Basketball Play - Stack Split

Stack Split

Evan Orzolek 07/24/2017

BLOB run by Iberostar in the Liga ACB. Hard action to guard with multiple screens occuring in simulataneous actions. 2 should usually always be open in the corner at the end and if x5 hedges on the flare screen to the opposite corner, have the 5 slip to the basket for a layup. See More

Basketball Play - Wizard

Wizard

Rory Hamilton 07/18/2017

Here is a great baseline out of bounds to utilize against a switching man to man defense. Box Alignment with best shooter at the weak side elbow. 3 comes off staggered screen from 4 and 5 for a potential shot. 2 upscreens for 5 and 4 can slip the last screen if teams switch. See More

Basketball Play - SLOB Plays: Flare Punch STS

SLOB Plays: Flare Punch STS

Doug Brotherton 06/11/2017

A lot of NBA teams use the "Zipper Cut" to get the ball inbounded. It is a simple pin down, which allows the guard to sprint to the ball. This is a misdirection counter. The post slips the pin down, to receive the inbounds pass. A flare screen allows for a skip pass, which leads into a screen-the-screener action. This set allows a team to use their best shooter to cross screen for the post, before sprinting through an elevator screen. See More

Basketball Play - Golden State Warriors - Elbow Side

Golden State Warriors - Elbow Side

Ryan Nguyen 05/17/2017

This is a wrinkle out of an Elbow action that the Phoenix Suns used to run during the Seven Seconds or Less era. As 5 rolls to the basket, 4 sets a down screen for 2 (Klay Thompson) making it hard for the help defense to tag the roll as X2 and X4 are occupied with the downscreen action on the weakside. 4 can look to slip to the basket or lift high as X4 has rim protection duties. Basketball Play - Celtics - Cross Twist

Celtics - Cross Twist

Doug Brotherton 05/16/2017

In the 4th quarter of Game 7, in the 2017 NBA Playoffs, the Celtics were trying to find an answer to the Wizards 7-0 run. Brad Stevens ran this ATO, which resulted in an easy Marcus Smart lay-up. The play uses some misdirection, to get an easy post entry. With Celtics' star Isaiah Thomas cutting to the wing, and a cross screen happening, it looks like the ball will work back to that side of the floor. Instead, Olynyk dribbled the opposite direction, and Horford screened X3. When X4 fought over the screen, Smart (3) simply slips to the ball. This was one of the best ATO designs of the 2017 NBA Playoffs. The Celtics weathered that Wizards run, winning Game 7, to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. See More

Basketball Play - Iverson Sets - Iverson Loop

Iverson Sets - Iverson Loop

Doug Brotherton 05/15/2017

"Iverson Loop" is a misdirection set that can be used to get a shooter an open look, or isolate a skilled player. The Iverson cut clears out the weak side. When the flare screen is set, the passer must decide if he throws the skip pass to 4, or looks at the 5 on the slip to the rim. If the ball is skipped to 4, it is for a shot, or a wing isolation is created for the player to attack. See More

Basketball Play - Atlanta Hawks - UCLA High Low Lob

Atlanta Hawks - UCLA High Low Lob

Matt Wheeler 04/26/2017

The Atlanta Hawks ran this play to get a great look for a lob after a time out in their playoff game against the Washington Wizards.. A common action in this set is 2 coming of the stagger screen for a shot. In this play the Hawks used that action as a decoy and then 3 slipped the screen to the short corner. This cleared the help defense and put their 5 in a one on one position in the post. 5 then fakes the duck in and spins off of his man to catch the lob pass for the dunk. See More

Basketball Play - Mississippi State (W) - 54 Exit

Mississippi State (W) - 54 Exit

Ryan Nguyen 04/03/2017

Mississippi State (W) ran this action against South Carolina in the 2017 Women's Basketball National Championship game. 2 cutting to the basket and exiting to the corner is false action as this force X4 to help. As X4 helps, 5 screens in for 4 for a catch on the wing. If X5 hedges, 5 can slip to the basket or duck-in for a post-up on 4's catch. See More

Basketball Play - Butler End of Game BOB

Butler End of Game BOB

Dana Beszczynski 12/21/2016

This was the late game BOB play Coach Holtman used to guide Butler to what many perceived as an upset of the Indiana Hoosiers last Saturday night. But, the Bulldogs are no stranger to knocking off big time programs. This perfectly designed BOB situation uses the decoy screen for the 5 man who comes across the lane clearing the defense out and the 4 man uses good timing to move towards 3 before slipping hard catching the Indiana defender looking at the 3 man. 1 makes the perfect pass for the dunk in the lane and a big play for the Butler Bulldogs in their knocking off the Indiana Hoosiers! Basketball Play - Boston Celtics - UCLA PNR Advance Pass

Boston Celtics - UCLA PNR Advance Pass

Matt Wheeler 12/15/2016

The Boston Celtics started the second half of their game against the Houston Rockets with this play designed to expose x3 in the ball screen coverage. The ball screen for 1 after the UCLA cut forced x3 to help on the ball handler. The quick advance pass from 1 to 5 gave 3 time to slip to the basket and receive the pass from 5 for an uncontested layup. See More
