Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this play, our post sets an up-screen for the wing against the zone defense then steps out to the wing to get the pass. 5 then looks to pass inside to 3 posting up and makes a cut to the rim. The other players fill around 5 on the post cut. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawCompetitive transition defensive drill that ramps up the intensity in practice. Team accountability is embedded in each portion of the drill, as well as fundamentals of transition defense. This is also a terrific conditioner. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawPin & Skip is a great action to use against sagging man defenders and zone defense. Use the Dr. Dish as the low defender and skip the ball to a wide open shooter. Plenty of variations to keep the drill fresh and train multiple actions. Can use with a small group or your whole team. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis set was put on the floor by Springfield College WBB during their practice on January 28, 2016 for an upcoming opponent. The single double action for the best shooter is a great way to allow players to read the defense and make the set less predictable. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play puts immediate pressure on the defense with a down-screen directly into a ball-screen. It looks like the Raptors get a little mixed up here, but Joseph makes up for it with a nice drive to the basket. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Raptors used this play to get DeRozan and Scola in a two-man game using a pinch post ball-screen. This gives DeRozan a lot of space to create off the dribble and makes it difficult for the defense to help with Scola being a shooting threat on the pop. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawOklahoma on offense ran a lot of dribble weave to force the defense to communicate and make decisions weather to switch hand offs, go under, open up and slide thru, or go over the top. This was one of the few actions they ran against Villanova to get the ball on the block. In this play I would recommend using your best player like Oklahoma used #24 Heild. The action is a simple rub screen to allow the post player to seal his man deeper then he normally would be able too. By using your best player to set the rub screen it forces his man to stay attached to him which creates essentially a double screen, plus the 5 man defending the post may show or offer some help in defending the best player. Favorite Send to FastDrawBrad Stevens and the Celtics dealt with Isaiah Thomas being denied for much of their series against the Atlanta Hawks, and this was one counter that Stevens came up with to utilize Thomas. By having Thomas, who was denied, set a flare screen for Jae Crowder, there was no help defense as Crowder caught the ball uncontested on the wing. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe shuffle-stagger is a common action in the NBA and in levels beneath it. The great part of a shuffle-stagger is having a wing post up for an advantage down low, and a shooter coming off a double stagger from the opposite corner to occupy the help defense. The difficulty of a shuffle-stagger action can be finding ways to reverse the ball when the defense knows it is coming and won't let the action develop. Coach Popovich and the Spurs have a strong way to get into the shuffle-stagger, almost out of a Horns formation. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawGreat set to get the ball inside. This play completely clears out the weak side and the fade screen up top occupies potential weak side help. This is great action if the defense is fronting the post, as it gives a clear opportunity to throw the ball over the top of the post defender. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis action is great for teams with a scorer. Most teams are familiar enough with scouting reports to know where each player (especially the better players) is going to be coming off of screens. However, this action will force the defense to have to worry about going two different directions. By faking one way and going another, this can throw the defense off just enough to get your best player a clean look at the basket. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Pistons ran this set out of a timeout. This set is effective for many reasons. First, they get the ball into the post which means everyone on the defense has to be ready to rotate to help prevent an easy basket. Next, the split screen up top on the strong side grabs X2’s attention because he has to be ready to stunt at 1 if X1 is late on the recovery/X1 and X4 do not switch. All of this action (the post up/split screen) sets the defense up for what Detroit really wants to get here—the hammer screen. Well-designed play with many options, including 5 on a slip. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawVillanova excelled all year long in special situations and this press breaker was no exception. A very simple action in design that could have been very easily stopped if the back screen was just switched. In terms of getting the ball in this play will almost always work against a M-M Full Court Defense, be clearing out the front court it’s easy to just enter the ball to the 2 guard. In this specific case Villanova hits the home run and gets an And 1, however all of the options were open. The 2 was open, 5 was open coming back to the ball and the 1 would have been open if he continued running forward after setting the screen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis set provides that opportunity because as 1 is catching the ball, the 5 man is setting a ballscreen immediately on X1, giving 1 a chance to attack in a straight line drive right off the catch. Also, this can be an effective play against a team that will blitz/hard hedge the side ballscreen, as 2 can hit 1 quickly off the screen and 1 will have plenty of time to throw the lob to 4 rolling to the basket before the defense recovers.
