Favorite Send to FastDrawJapan has been running this "Delay" action at FIBA Asia Cup Women 2017. 1 passes to 5 and screens down for 2. 2 curls to the basket and looks to seal her defender for a post-up. If the post-up is not available, 5 passes back to 1 and follows into a side pick-and-roll. As 5 rolls to the basket, 2 shakes behind 5's roll to create a single-side bump action. 4 sets a weak-side flare screen for 3. 3 can flare to the corner or cut backdoor to the basket. 1 drives to the nail/elbow and passes to 3 coming off of the flare screen. Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is an excellent sideline out of bounds I've seen coach Sherri Coale run over the years. I've added a few of my own wrinkles to it but its a great play with multiple options. Initial set up is a your best shooter at the FT line and best finishing guard around the slot area. Both post players are positioned on the blocks. 3 player times cut and waits for 5 to flash for basketball similar to the blind pig action in the flex offense. The point guard passes to the post player flashing to the elbow and the post immediately looks to hit the 3 man on a backdoor (vs. aggressive defense). If the backdoor is not available, the point guard receives a dribble handoff (DHO) from the post player. After receiving the DHO, the point guard stretches the play out while the 4 man flashes to the block for a potential post pass. The 5 man will then receive a back screen from the shooter for a potential lob pass. 2 shapes up after backscreen and looks for a shot or immediately looks to dribble over and post the mismatch. If the guard cannot get the ball to the post player due to being fronted, then the weakside big flashes to catch and immediately throw a high-low pass into the post. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Golden State Warriors used this SLOB play to get a look for Steph Curry (1). Once his side of the floor is cleared, he reads how he is defended on the screen. This time he was being overplayed by his man so he cut backdoor and was able to get a layup for Shaun Livingston (3). See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Golden State Warriors used this play early in Game 3 of the NBA Finals to get a look for Klay Thompson (1) off of a post entry action. It's a great play to get the defense to guard multiple actions and get the ball back in your point guard's hands for a shot. The double drag at the beginning of the play was a decoy action to get the ball into the post. After the post entry 1 & 5 set a staggered split screen for 2, who cut to the basket off of 1. 1 was getting overplayed on the screen from 5 and rejected the screen to go backdoor for a layup. Favorite Send to FastDrawBecause Steve Kerr has the luxury of utilizing some of the best shooters in the world, he runs great actions like this one designed specifically for them. In UCLA Rip, he places two shooters on the same side and runs them in a three-man pattern with Draymond Green at the 4. The screening and attention paid to their shooters helps the backdoor pass from Green be effective -- which is why the two players not involved in the action must be lifted on the opposite side of the floor. Favorite Send to FastDrawSLOB/COB action from the Milwaukee Bucks. 1 can backdoor cut to basket if X1 overplays or miscommunication on switch. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawGregg Popovich dribble weave set. While it can change based on personnel and spots, the objective is to get an action similar to their Motion Weak offense out of a dribble handoff set. They push one player backdoor and raise another, hoping their defenders run into each other. There is also an easy counter to cut backdoor if the defense snuffs it out and denies the pass. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawATO Lob action from Atlanta Hawks HC Mike Budenholzer. The first option of this action, 2 brushes off of 5 curling to the basket. 4 looks to lob to 2. If X2 overplays 2 on the curl, 2 looks to cut backdoor clearing to the opposite side of the floor to create space for 5 to spin off of his man for the lob. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawUSC ran this play as a counter to their circle handoff in their game against Baylor. They ran this same play multiple times with 1 coming off of the down screen from 3 to get a dribble handoff to attack the rim. This time 1 rejected the down screen and scored on a backdoor layup. Favorite Send to FastDrawA part of Michigan's motion offense, if the wide pindown is covered and the big opening is not open they default into this action. This is triggered by the point guard looking back to the wing where the pass came from and he dives backdoor. The corner fills and then looks to drive into the middle of the lane and the point guard cuts off the big setting a flare screen for a shot. 3 in the corner/opposite block must clear to the opposite side to prevent any help. Favorite Send to FastDrawComing out of halftime in their round of 32 matchup with Iowa State, Purdue ran this quick hitter for a layup. It starts with three players along the baseline (could start as 1-4 low if using as a quick hitter in half court offense, not off an inbounds) into horns using two dribble handoffs, and ends with a rip screen for a backdoor layup. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis DBL Drag action is well orchestrated as Mason is able to go right into a DHO with Coffey on the opposite side of the floor spreading the defense out. On ball reversal, the backdoor is opened up when Lynch relocates. Murphy with his ability to attack off the dribble drives the ball at the rim to the now open side of the floor. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawChris Collins has done a tremendous job since his arrival at Northwestern, leading them this year to their 1st ever NCAA Tournament appearance. His Offense has been getting rave reviews this year from everyone who has the chance to watch his Team. This Dribble Weave action sets up to what looks like a double stagger action for Lindsey, but ends up with Lindsey finishing the play on the opposite side of the court with the dribble penetration. Law does a great job coming back off the single screen action when Lindsey cuts backdoor on the baseline. This Northwestern squad is "gritty" and plays with a lot of enthusiasm and effort on both sides of the court! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Arizona Wildcats really do a tremendous job of moving their players around in their half court sets. Here is a multiple ball screen action which given the Defensive positioning can lead to a backdoor cut or open up the direct drive to the ring. If the Defense sags in on the penetration, the Cats have their shooters spotting up behind the arc ready for a kick-out pass. See More
