Boston Celtics - EOG Iverson Lift P&R

Ryan Nguyen 11/15/2016

With 37.2 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter with the score tied at 102, Brad Stevens ran this EOG Lift Pick & Roll action (4 or 5 man at the wing as opposed to the corner) against the New Orleans Pelicans. What makes this simple play work effectively is that Brad Stevens designed this action to get Isaiah Thomas attacking with his strong hand downhill. See More

Basketball Play - Minnesota Lynx - ATO "UCLA Wiper"

Minnesota Lynx - ATO "UCLA Wiper"

Ryan Nguyen 10/21/2016

With 35.8 seconds left in the 4th Quarter in Game 5 of the 2016 WNBA Finals, the Minnesota Lynx ran this ATO action. As 5 sets the flare screen for 2 this forces X5 to drop back in a help/support position to prevent the basket cut. As this is happening, 5 turns and sets a second screen for 3. Since X5 is in a help position this eliminiates any help from X5 stepping out to show on the screen and leads to an open 3-point shot for Maya Moore (3). See More

Basketball Play - Chicago Bulls - EOG Post Kickout 3

Chicago Bulls - EOG Post Kickout 3

Matt Wheeler 07/20/2016

Down 3 with 3.6 seconds left in the NBA Summer League championship game, the Chicago Bulls ran this sideline out of bounds play to get Denzel Valentine a clean look at a 3. This play uses the skip pass action that Brad Stevens has used at both Butler and the Boston Celtics in end game situations. The Bulls ran their own variation of the play that started with a decoy cross screen for Valentine instead of the zipper screen that Stevens uses. This action caused the defense to relax, thinking Valentine was covered after defending the initial cross screen successfully. The rescreen for Valentine then freed him up for the game tying shot.
