This play starts with a wing entry pass followed by a hand off. 1 gets on ball screen from 4 and drives to the paint. Next look is to 2 and dump down pass to 5 on block. Third option is to look for 3 curling off screen away by 4. Give it a try! See More

In 2008 against his former team the Raptors, Vince Carter hit a clutch game-tying three pointer. The play was excellently drawn up by Lawrence Frank, which draws attention to every player on the court besides Vince Carter, a good way to get him free. See More

In an end game set against the Pacers, Jeff Green used a rub action from Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to get free for a lob at the rim and put in the game-winning layup. See More

After Carter buried the Raptors and sent the game to OT, he got another chance to win it in the extra frame. Lawrence Frank drew up another lob play for him, once again banking on the defense paying attention to players other than Carter. The misdirection lob play is a staple in SLOB situations, and Carter does a great job selling the screen to set it up. See More

In 2008, Jay Triano drew this play for a high handoff with Chris Bosh, who would likely pop out and set a ballscreen. Instead, the play worked out so that Bosh's presence with the ball would serve as a decoy for an off-ball player to cut backdoor and receive a pass from the man Bosh pitches the ball to. See More

Richard Jefferson and Jason Collins connected on a fantastic alley oop in a 2004 game to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers. The play, designed to get Richard Jefferson free at the rim, works well because of the amount of attention paid to Jason Kidd as their star player. His ability to serve as a decoy away from the basket was instrumental in freeing up space at the basket and getting Jefferson's man away from him. See More

This is my 3rd set of BLOB plays...this time a Baseline Series. We like to go with 1 specific set up unique to each season and to disguise a handful of sets in the same set up. So far I have shared a "Shapes" Series and a "Letter's" Series. Hopefully these with small adaptations to your personnel and use vs. Man or Zone can help win the "Special Situations" portion of each game for you. See More

Double swing uses the same action twice in the same set play. After ball is entered to 3, 1 cuts to block and uses 4's down screen to return to original spot. 2 and 3 again swing the wings, with 2 receiving three staggered screens to get open on the right side. After screening for 2, 3 empties out on the left wing. Give it a try! See More

This play starts in a double stack with 2 cutting over the top to left wing and 3 underneath to right wing. On 1-3 pass 4-5 stagger screen away for 2 for shot. If not, ball is reversed to 1. 4 curls over 5 to catch ball in the paint and score. Give it a try! See More

Suns Coach Alvin Gentry ran this as a catch and shoot set against the New Jersey Nets in an end game situation. With only 2 seconds remaining on the clock, Channing Frye, a stretch-4, used a well-set double screen, or fence, from Gortat and Nash to knock down the catch and shoot three. See More

This is a common play in our area of Northwest Ohio that I'm sure is used in college and pro's. This play is great because it is designed to for a high post entry, and a "scissor" cut with 2 guards. You can get good looks for 3's off the scissor cut and double screen. This play also offers a chance to enter to the post player with a double screen and post entry, or the big can fake handoff to both players, and have a high post isolation. See More

This is a play that can provide several options at the end of the clock. When teaching this play, it is important that you place an emphasis on taking what the defense gives you. They will either give you a two or a three based on how they defend the play. For more, check out my website www.coachpeelbasketball.com, sign up for a membership and get your first 30 days free. Alvin Gentry and the Phoenix Suns used this play when they needed a three pointer with about three seconds left in the game. It's designed for Channing Frye, a stretch forward, to come off a flare screen for a catch and shoot attempt. See More
