Basketball Play - Double HI Ballscreen

Double HI Ballscreen

Gibson Pyper 03/20/2015

Belmont runs good action out of their transition attacking. Typically using a Drag screen to free up the PG. In this set, the PG looks to come off a Drag screen and kick to the wing. On the kick both 4 & 5 set a Double HI Ballscreen and look to slip it and 1/3 space on the wing in corner. Because Belmont has almost all shooter on the floor, it results in a lot of space to attack from. See More

Basketball Play - Golden State Warriors "Elbow"

Golden State Warriors "Elbow"

Gibson Pyper 04/16/2015

Golden State Warriors run alot of their sets in the flow of their offense based on reads. They run double stagger, one down and flex actions out of their base offense that end up in Horns. This set is a wrinkle out of the base motion that is designed to get Draymond Green cutting to the rim for a layup. See More

Basketball Play - Golden State Warrios "ATO Rip"

Golden State Warrios "ATO Rip"

Gibson Pyper 04/23/2015

Steve Kerr has been an incredible leader and his After Time Out plays this year have been outstanding. Against the Pelicans, in both game 1 & game 2 he ran an After Time Out set to get Draymond Green a quick layup. This year, the Warriors have ran more floppy action with Klay & Steph cutting off screens and Iguadola handling the ball. So, off this action Kerr has Klay cut to the wing, with the two bigs staying high as Iguadola passes it to Klay. Steph then turns and sets a "Rip" screen (backscreen on Draymond's defender) to have Draymond cut to the rim for a layup. See More

Basketball Play - Golden State Warriors "Wing Twirl Double"

Golden State Warriors "Wing Twirl Double"

Gibson Pyper 04/23/2015

One of the most lethal actions the Warriors run is having Steph & Klay twirl on the wing. Usually Steph cuts to set a down screen for Klay, looking for a quick shot, in this set they "Twirl" or Klay cuts off of the screen and curls back inside setting another quick screen for Steph. Out of this action, the first guard receives a dribble handoff and the other cuts through off a double screen, looking for a shot. Kerr also runs a counter out of this where instead of cutting off double screen Klay is involved in the double screen and "Leaks" or slips out early to get a shot. See More

Basketball Play - New Orleans Pelicans "Away Double Backdoor"

New Orleans Pelicans "Away Double Backdoor"

Gibson Pyper 04/23/2015

New Orleans runs alot of Horns sets, and one of their favorite sets is to pass to the elbow and have the point guard and opposite Big set a double down screen for the wing player (usually Eric Gordon) to attack out of a dribble handoff. Against Golden State in Game 1 they ran that same action with a nice counter; instead of executing a dribble handoff with the guard on the wing, the big turns and dribbles at the ballside wing who then cuts backdoor. Basketball Play - Golden State Warriors "21 Pinch"

Golden State Warriors "21 Pinch"

Gibson Pyper 06/01/2015

An adaptation from the Phoenix Suns 7 Seconds or Less offense, this is an early offensive attack that has been very effective for Golden State. The idea is to push the ball ahead as quickly as possible to the wing with a pass or dribble. There are built in options into this series, with an option to dribble hand off back to the point guard, keep it and come off ballscreen, and look opposite for weak side player coming off of the screen. Basketball Play - Golden State Warriors "Phoenix Ballscreen"

Golden State Warriors "Phoenix Ballscreen"

Gibson Pyper 06/01/2015

A very common action among NBA teams is the Phoenix Drag, or in other words a ballscreen in transition before the defense can be set. They use this alot to get Steph attacking early in the offense to try and get easy scores. A big key to watch in this series is the way they run this ballscreen vs ICE defense. The Cavs ICE the ballscreens, or push the ballhandler to the sideline with two defenders, so the Warriors may try to have Draymond pop to the top of the key for a shot. See More

Basketball Play - Golden State Warriors "Phoenix Double Away"

Golden State Warriors "Phoenix Double Away"

Gibson Pyper 06/01/2015

Same concept as the regular Phoenix ballscreen, the main difference is that two big men set the ballscreen early in transition. The best part of this set is the counter they run out of it, the first big (typically Andrew Bogut) dives to the rim and the second big (typically Draymond Green) sets a pindown screen for Klay Thompson. The Warrriors also run another option out of this and that is to have Klay be a screener with a big man setting the double screen. After the guard comes off of this, the big man turns and sets a down screen for Klay to get a shot out of it. See More
