Favorite Send to FastDrawHaving to defend this BLOB playing verse Coach Spataro at Menlo College, I decided to add this to our playbook! With the screen-the-screener and big on little action you will either get a wide open shot, or force a switch that you can attack. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Dream run several BLOBs out of this formation to create confusion and advantages. This is their most-run BLOB of the early season and it utilizes an Elevator Screen to create a shot/drive decision on a clean catch. Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Denver Nuggets frequently like to get Paul Millsap the ball in the post to let him go to work one on one. This time the Nuggets used Millsap (4) as a passer in the post to set up the elevator screen for a three-point shot. Check out the video clip of the play below. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawInbounding the ball from the corner can be a difficult situation. The Nuggets started this play with good spacing to make sure they got the ball in. Once 1 got the pass they ran a decoy action with 3 cutting across screens from 5 and 4 to shift the defense. 1 then dribbled back to the original side to pass the ball to 2, cutting through the elevator screen for a shot. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis was used by the Philadelphia 76ers during the first round of the 2019 NBA playoffs. This is a great after time out or sideline out of bounds play when a team needs a 3 and has a shooter with a quick release. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a great counter to their double stagger side pick & roll set you can find in my playbank as well (Twins SPNR). This is a creative design from Coach Beard and staff. National Championship Game Preview: Texas Tech and Virginia XsOs See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a sample of the Texas Tech true motion offense. This is not a set play but a picture of the sequences of actions you will have to guard when facing them. In one possession you have to guard: a drag screen, flare screen, slipped step-up screen, a pick & pop, and one last flare screen by the 5 to empty the paint. The spacing struggles at times but they force you into uncommon situations and actions that it presents the opportunity for miscommunication and scoring opportunities. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis set is my favorite of the 2019 NCAA Tournament. Virginia ran the elevator set out of a box formation. As Auburn thought it had guarded it well, Virginia built in a counter with a screen for a throwback on the baseline drive. This resulted in a wide open 3 in the Final Four, and Virginia went on to play in the National Championship game. Blog Post: Virginia's Elite Efficiency on Both Sides of the Ball See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Louisville women's basketball team is a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament. Coach Jeff Walz runs some terrific box sets. This is a really good three point set, that also features the ability to throw the ball inside. They ran this in their second round match-up against Michigan. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawATo from Liberty in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Mississippi State. It works well when 1 is able to set the pin screen for 3 because this frees him up more for the elevator to close. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawKansas State used their best player, Barry Brown Jr. (2) as a decoy in this play to get an open three-point shot. 2 made an Iverson cut off of screens from 5 & 4. 3 then cuts through the elevator screen on the opposite side of the floor to receive the pass from 1 for the open three. Favorite Send to FastDrawATO from Liberty in the first round of the NCAA tournament against Mississippi State. It works well when 1 is able to set the pin screen for 3. This helps get his own defender off of him and gives some space for the elevator to close. See More
