Basketball Play - 32

32

Andrew Lacey 07/13/2015

Start in a 1-2-2 alignment with your bigs on the blocks. 1 will dribble the basketball away from the side he wants to enter the ball. (ex. Go away from your best shooter). As one is coming back to the shooter's side; 4/5 will set a double screen (elevator screen) for the shooter (2 in this case). 2 will sprint around the screen and back to the ball side corner looking for the shot. 3 will slide to the weak-side corner. If 2 is not open for the pass/shot. 5 (or the post thats at the top of the double screen) will set a screen for the 4 (or post at the bottom of the double screen). 4 then curls tight off the screen looking for a pass from 1. 1-4 Set- Screen the Screener

Andrew Lacey 07/10/2015

As we keep trying to improve our offensive efficiency, more and more teams are moving towards using ball screens to create scoring opportunities. At Varina we use various alignments to put the defense in a situation to limit what they can do help-side wise to defend our quick game. This is a action we use out of our 1-4 set in late game situations to get a quick shot. See More

Basketball Play - 1-3-1 Zone Set Play

1-3-1 Zone Set Play

Dana Beszczynski 05/30/2015

John Beilein had a masterful game plan against the Syracuse 2-3 Zone and here is another example of moving players and the ball to get the best possible shot The Orangemen were consistently spread out by the passing of the Wolverines and had their fair share of open looks There were also many secondary options off the sets which created match-up problems for the vaunted Syracuse Zone Defense of Jim Boeheim See More

Basketball Play - Houston Rockets Turn 4 Flare

Houston Rockets Turn 4 Flare

Craig LeVasseur 05/12/2015

Houston used this play in the 1st Round of the NBA Playoffs against the Dallas Mavericks for a Josh Smith to Dwight Howard lob. This simple Turn 4 set gives Smith good positioning for a post up, and the flare option for Trevor Ariza is always available to keep the defense honest. A 4-5 pick and roll is a difficult enough play to defend, but moving the screen down to the block confuses the coverages even more than usual. In this play the defense commited to the pick and roll too soon, and Howard spun out of the pick for a lob pass. See More

Basketball Play - Tulsa X Flash

Tulsa X Flash

Wes Kosel 05/11/2015

1 dribbles right then back to the top of the key pushing 4 to the block and 3 to the corner. As 1 dribbles left, 5 flashes to the high post. Once 5 has the ball, he looks to pass inside to 4. If 4 isn't open, 5 gives the ball to 3 on a dribble hand-off and 2 screens across the lane for 4. If 4 isn't open, 5 screens down for 2 for a shot on the wing. See More
