Favorite Send to FastDrawBoston Celtics Head Coach Brad Stevens drew up this quick – hitting last second BLOB set against the Toronto Raptors last season to get Marcus Smart an open shot coming off double staggered screens. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Washington Wizards were tied with the Orlando Magic with 0.8 seconds remaining last December. After calling a timeout, Coach Randy Wittman drew up this SLOB set designed to get one of his better shooters (not named Bradley Beal) coming off a quick screen and then slice to the corner to clear out the help and the lane area to open up the rim. Beal, the athlete/dunker in this set, simultaneously comes off a screen from a big and then rolls back to the rim for the game winning lob lay in. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawOn April 2, 2015 of this past season, the Phoenix Suns were down one point with 6.8 seconds remaining on the road at the Golden State Warriors. The Suns ran a brilliant ATO SLOB quick hitting set to clear out the weak side and get an open lay-up for Eric Bledsoe. The Warriors did not switch any of the screens. Instead, the Warriors chased/trailed the screens, allowing the weak side to be cleared out and Bledsoe to curl in for the go-ahead lay-up (however, the Warriors would eventually hit a game winning shot at the buzzer). Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a set play ran by Tommy Amaker at Harvard. A slashing wing/guard would be ideal in the "3" spot in this diagram, with your best shooter as your "2" to force the defense to make a choice to take away the drive (and leave an open shot for 2 in the corner) or put a lot of pressure on 3's defender to keep him from getting to the rim in isolation after coming off the ball screen from 4. Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a man set from a former league opponent. This team was always a difficult opponent, partly because they executed detailed set plays very well, such as this one with multiple options. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawA good BLOB set that I got from a really good high school coach while I was out recruiting one night a couple years ago. Simple but effective, and can be difficult to defend. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawCoaches, in my posts you will find me talking about getting your best players the ball a lot. I think it is very important to a teams success that the best players get the most looks and the best looks possible. Sometimes, you also have to get your opponents off balance. I have found the following play successful over the past few seasons, but it seems to me that the more unexpected it is the better. This is a fantastic play to get your trail big an easy bucket. Favorite Send to FastDrawAs we keep trying to improve our offensive efficiency, more and more teams are moving towards using ball screens to create scoring opportunities. At Varina we use various alignments to put the defense in a situation to limit what they can do help-side wise to defend our quick game. This is a action we use out of our 1-4 set in late game situations to get a quick shot. See More
