Starting out wide and receiving a wide screen from Welsh, Hamilton works into a dribble flip action and immediately receives a ball screen as the defense tried to fight over the screen, Hamilton got in the lane to score on the floater. Having Marcus Smart pass to the elbow and do a fake handoff with Amir Johnson distracted the defense from the off ball screen Isaiah Thomas was being run through. This is an excellent play designed by Purdue Coach Matt Painter out of a Box Set. Purdue runs a pass entry into a UCLA screening action. With the opposite big popping to the TOK, the PG sets a shuffle cut and runs into a double stagger. On the pass to the TOK, the wing then runs baseline off a triple screen to the opposite side looking to make the defense chase. There can’t be a better feeling for a coach when they run a play that gets the highest percentage shot in basketball. This is a great set by North Florida for a lob or layup. The player on the strong side block simply pops up to the elbow while the player in the strong side corner receives a flex screen. Considering the time and score, the Golden State Warriors wanted to play sound defense and definitely not give up a three-pointer. At the same time, they did not want to give up a lob, which would have taken very little time off of the clock. This end of game set gave the 76ers both options and they took the corner three-pointer from an Isaiah Canaan who was on fire.
