Coach Calipari does a great job with this action occupying the weak side defense with a double (stagger) action. 2 had the option of using the pick & roll (with Anthony Davis rolling), or he could turn down the screen because X1 and X4 consumed with the weak side action. Jones put the ball in the hands of his best player Isaiah Sykes (2) to create off the ball screen and Sykes did just that. The Bruins of Belmont have a line-up which is extremely hard to guard. With dangerous weapons on the perimeter, guarding them requires a lot of planning and a good strategy. The Racers use three sets of double staggered screens to get themselves into a position for the best shot in the offense. The timing and execution of this play was great to watch and Payne does a good job getting his post man a touch inside after a perfect read of the defense, using the zipper cut up the lane to take advantage of the defense cheating over the top.
