Kentucky ran this play multiple times in the first half of their Elite Eight game against North Carolina to get effective looks at a backdoor layup. This play can be run as a continuity offense starting with a side ball screen. 1 dribbles off of the screen and passes to 4. 4 looks for the backdoor pass and if fhat isn't available passes to the wing to get into another side pick & roll. After 4 receives the ball in the post, 2 sets a hammer screen for 3 cutting to the corner for the first option. If 4 sees this option open he can drive baseline to make the pass to 3. The Minnesota Lynx used this pindown action to get an open shot off a screen for Seimone Augustus early in Game 2 of the WNBA Finals. 1 dribbled to the wing as 2 (Augustus) cut off the zipper screen. Once 2 received the pass from 1, the Lynx went to a Horns/Elbow formation with 5 flashing to the elbow and 1 cutting to the corner. After passing to 2, 1 followed his pass and abruptly stopped his cut next to x1. By quickly changing the the cut into a ball screen x1 wasn't able to provide help. The Wolfpack started the play with 3 making an Iverson cut off of 4 and 5 to receive the pass from 1 on the wing. 1 cut to the corner to provide spacing as 3 dribbled off of the stagger ball screen from 5 and 4.
