Favorite Send to FastDrawThis plan comes for 3fromthecorner.com follower Coach Dan Carey from Hamilton High School in Sussex, Wisconsin. Offense's goal is to simply dribble the ball into the paint -- no shots, just get into the paint safely with both feet and under control with the ball. This game really helps with a "no help needed" mentality guarding the ball -- something we say all the time to our players. We want them in "one-on-one mentality" when guarding the ball. But when focusing on help, and getting into gaps, this is a great drill to build the habit of being there early with your FEET on helpside, and not reaching. Put in a "shot clock" of 15-20 seconds that the offense has to try to get into the paint *Offense not allowed to play "butt ball" and just catch it, back your man down and get into the paint -- has to be on a direct drive *Great drill to build toughness in your team. Also a great drill for taking charges See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawPart of Daily Defensive DNA. Drill can be 4 on 4 or 5/5. It is a live drill. Anytime a player isnt (1) in proper stance (2) in proper position or (3) not communicating they are removed from the drill. This teaches the importance of each possession. Option 1: Keep teams and score for a period of time. Losing teams have "parting gifts" for not winning. Option 2: Remove player and perform a " You don't get to play defense" activity the remainder of the possession. (treadmill, bleachers) See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIf you're like me Shell drill is a staple of your daily defensive preparation. The thing I hated was when working on defending baseline you had to tell the on ball defender to let his man beat him. Well not anymore. Use this drill to work on baseline penetration without letting him beat one the ball defender. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawOne of my favorite drills is The Inferno. This is a great October 15th drill because it immediately raises the intensity level or shows the lack of it. What you'll need: 3 Passers 4 Offensive players 4 Defensive players 1 Ball 1 Box of band-aids (if it's a successful drill.) Players begin on the elbows and blocks. This drill is for 8 minutes. The team's roles will switch at the 4 minute mark. There are no substitutions for the 8 involved. When the ball is at the top, the offense down screens. When the ball is on the wing, players screen across. To keep the drill competitive, and it won't take much, use one of the following scoring systems: Each catch = 5 defensive pushups (5 keeps the speed going plus a good screening group will average 20 catches in 4 minutes) Each catch = 1 pt for elbow catch, 2pts for catch on the block. Keep track and at the end of 8 minutes losing team has a reminder drill. Each catch = live four on four. Offense gets whatever shot they score, Defense gets 2 for a stop, 3 for a charge, etc.. 3fromthecorner.com See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawCoach starts with a pass to wing. x2 and x1 jump to midline. 1 and 2 interchange, forcing x1 and x2 to talk and work around each other. As x1 and x2 are working together, coach can drive. Lowest defender must stop the drive while other defender drops down. See More
