When the ball is above the free throw line, the defender on the post must full front where the only available pass is a lob to the backboard. This pass should be made extremely difficult by (1) ball pressure on passer and (2) the angle. When the ball is in the air, the defense has to react to it.

When the ball is on the wing, the defender on the post must play behind. WHEN THE BALL IS IN THE AIR, 2 will double down creating an L trap.

1 denies pass out

3 becomes the "Goalie"

4 turns to look at the trap to "Intercept" the pass out.

1 is in complete deny so the pass back to the wing is not an option.

4 turns and faces the ball to take first pass

3 is now the "Goalie" protecting the basket

5 and 2 can't allow a split, can't get a silly foul and must force baseline move

If 5 makes a successful pass the defense must rotate and recover quickly.

4 will take the first pass because he watched the pass and can react to it.

3 takes the next closest offensive player (usually 4's man or zone responsibility.

2 takes 3 spot.

Since the pass is made to a player above the FT line 5 must fight around for a full front.
