The Aces use this SLOB to get the ball to the pinch post area quickly as well as to bridge into their main sets on offense. The space created by the BLOB allows star player A'Ja Wilson to face up and get to the rim. Other options are to make a high-low pass, or hit a slasher come off a triple stagger screen along the baseline.
Blog Series: Las Vegas Aces XsOs:
Part 1 - Quick HItters and ATO's
Start in box formation with posts at either elbow and guards on the blocks.
4 down screens for 1 on the ball side, who receives the ball from 3 on the inbound.
On the inbound, 5 sets a middle ball screen for 1 and rolls hard to the rim.
4 stays low until the roll. After the roll, she replaces 5 near the nail area.
1 uses the screen to create space for 4.
1 enters the ball to 4, whose immediate look is a high-low to 5. If she doesn't have that, she can attack off the dribble or look to shoot immediately.
Counter - start in the same formation and enter the ball to 1.
3 cuts the baseline as 4 and 5 set a stagger screen for 2. As she cuts, 3 sets the middle screen of a triple stagger for 2.
2 cuts off the screens and receives a pass from 1 for a jumper. This is the same action as "Baseline Double Cross."
