Favorite Send to FastDrawLouisville used today's FastDraw Play of the Day against the Syracuse zone to get a 3 after passing on a high-low option. The action put a weakside rebounder in great position to clean up the glass as shown in the video below, reminding us that sometimes the best offense against a good zone lies in transition and offensive rebounding: See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawThis set was ran by the LA Lakers Summer League Team. There are a lot of different options from this play and it is really important for your point guard to make the right decision. I really like how this play opens up the floor on the ball side, but keeps the defenders busy on the weak side. The 1st option is a dibble handoff between the 5 and 3 The 2nd option is a kickout to the 1 and then a Pick & Roll with the 5 to open up three different looks See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawThis double flare start in a three guard alignment with 1 at the point. 2 and 3 flare off screens from 4 and 5. First option is for 2 to take an open three or penetrate. On catch, 4 immediately screens across for 5, as 5 cuts to catch and score. 1 and 3 slide to the left side, leaving the top of the key open for 4 to pop and catch for high low action. Give it a try! Favorite Send to FastDrawToday's FastDraw Play of the Day takes you to Eurobasket 2011 in Lithuania, for a look at the defensive side of the ball. In Second Round action today, France needed a defensive stop against Turkey to seal the victory. Turkey had the ball out of bounds, down 3 points, with 5 seconds to play in the game, but failed to inbound the ball within the 5-second time limit to do so, and France hung on to win the game. Every coach at one time or another is in a position where their team needs to force a 5-second call to have a chance to win the game. Usually, it occurs when trailing, and rarely does the team pull it off under pressure. In this case France used it to clinch victory in a game they were leading. The video below show you exactly how this play described above unfolded and allowed France to walk away with a Eurobasket victory: See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Indiana Pacers ran this After Time-Out drawn up by Frank Vogel during their win over the Washington Wizards in Game 4 of 2014 EC Semi-Finals. What made this play so effective was Paul George's (3) hesitation under the rim creating enough space with his defender to get through the screen for the catch & shoot. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Creighton Bluejays run a variety of sets designed to get Doug McDermott open looks at the basket. McDermott returned to school this year instead of turning pro to help the Bluejays transition into their new conference, the Big East. Creighton Head Coach Greg McDermott is in his 4th season at Creighton with a record of 84-30. He came to the Bluejays after coaching at Iowa State. At Creighton, he has taken them to two consecutive NCAA Tournaments and before that to the Finals of the CBI Tournament. Doug McDermott was a 1st team All American in 2012, was Captain of the World University Games USA team this summer where he led the team in scoring, FG's, FT's, 3 pointers, FT %, and minutes played. Last year he set the Creighton single season and career record for points, FG's & 3 pt percentage. He is one of the top players in the NCAA. The Bluejays are currently 5-1 on the season. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawThis plan comes for 3fromthecorner.com follower Coach Dan Carey from Hamilton High School in Sussex, Wisconsin. Offense's goal is to simply dribble the ball into the paint -- no shots, just get into the paint safely with both feet and under control with the ball. This game really helps with a "no help needed" mentality guarding the ball -- something we say all the time to our players. We want them in "one-on-one mentality" when guarding the ball. But when focusing on help, and getting into gaps, this is a great drill to build the habit of being there early with your FEET on helpside, and not reaching. Put in a "shot clock" of 15-20 seconds that the offense has to try to get into the paint *Offense not allowed to play "butt ball" and just catch it, back your man down and get into the paint -- has to be on a direct drive *Great drill to build toughness in your team. Also a great drill for taking charges See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Miami Heat ran this set for Ray Allen against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals. They curled him around a double screen, to create seperation. Once Allen gets to the middle of the paint he slows down and re-evaluates where the defense is and can choose to turn around and run off a stagger or continue and run off the single. Against the Pacers he ran off the single which happened to be Lebron James who dove to the rim after setting his screen. See More
