Favorite Send to FastDrawThis set of pick & roll shooting drills is one of my favorites for player development. There are 189 total moves below to work on different pick & roll coverages and methods of attack at the three most popular angles. In order to keep your workouts efficient and energetic, take just one action and focus on 3-4 moves within that action from all three angles. Do not allow your players to just go through the motions, set a goal to reach during each set. Example: You MUST make 7-10 before moving to the next sequence. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawKansas Jayhawks zone lob set vs. 2-3 zone. Bill Self uses many lob plays against a zone. In this set, a double seal is set on the top layer of the zone. The point guard attacks the gap created and draws X5 to him. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawThis baseline out-of-bounds play is not just a way to get the ball in. It gives two solids options to get a good look in the paint. It can be run against man or zone. It has a higher potential to be run against zone because of the cutting action but it is essential that if it is run against zone that the screener hits his man. This play is one I took from my father who has coaches youth basketball for over a decade and it has been his most succesful baseline out-of-bounds play. Also since it ends up in four players on the baseline, Flex can be run from it after the ball is inbounded. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawSaturday night in their ESPN College Gameday game in Gainesville vs Florida, the Kentucky Wildcats run this quick double-backscreen play to start the 2nd half. What made this play so effective was the timing by 3 who hesitated at the top of the key before 5 caught the ball. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWhen playing Cleveland State you have to find ways to counter their pressue and make it as difficult as possible for them to successfully trap you. They trap all ball screens so running a horns set is one of the most difficult ways for them to do that successfully. Trailing at the half at our place we started the second half running three different variations of horns on our first three possessions. We scored on all 3. With them trapping the ball screen it makes it crucial the opposite post defender sinks in the hole or there is a strong blitz from the corner/wing defender. You can see in the first clip how even though our PG #11 DJ Cole got trapped as soon as he got the ball to our 4 man #4 Shawn Amiker he had a clear driving lane to the basket. The second clip shows us going off the 4 man, their 5 didn't sink far enough and we got an And 1. The third & final clip shows a pass entry that brought us to a back screen and down screen action on the side of the floor. With them pressuring the ball our 5 man #20 Bobby Hain created space off the bounce and hit the slipping 4 man for a lay-up. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawTied at 59-59 with under two minutes to go in a Non-Conference game between Cleveland State/San Francsico. The first diagram & Video is the CSU 5 Man Iso. #15 Anton Grady is their cornerstone player and in a big situation they love to clear out the side and let him either score or distribute. In this clip he kicks it out to the corner for a huge 3. San Francsico then took the ball out and pushed it up the floor right into a side elevator screen for #32 Derksen who is their best scoring wing. Their action was so successful because of how smoothly they got into it and executed after giving up a big 3. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawOklahoma State uses this backscreen continuity offense. It has flex elements and screen-the-screener action. They use a great shooter (Phil Forte) to set backscreens. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawMike Brey's Motion's Offense has multiple options depending on the cut and what's available with the read. Here against Duke, Notre Dame came down and ran a 2nd option whereby they incorporate the cross court pass into a sprint ball screen action with their 5 man Auguste - 30. Grant - 22 is so good at getting in the lane with his quickness and ball handling ability that the defense on Connaughton - 24 is forced to help opening up the lane for a baseline cut and lay-up. Mike Brey has really perfected the Irish's Motion set in the last years and his team is adept at executing it to perfection. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Fighting Irish of Notre Dame under Head Coach Mike Brey have been the surprise team of the year in the ACC. Brey's style is hard to copy as the Irish use multiple cuts and screening actions in their offense to score. In the game Wednesday night against Duke, this is the Opening Play they ran which really shows clearly how their movement opens up good spacing and the screening actions are so well timed to really force the defense into quick decision making. This was one of the most exciting games of the year and the Irish are moving towards a top seed in the NCAA Tournament come March. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWe use a lot of ball screens in our basic offensive movement to create advantages for easy scoring opportunities. Here is a simple Box Set alignment that utilitizes downscreens and cross screens to get the defense moving before setting the ball screen at the top of the key. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis set was run by Wayne Tinkle nad the Oregon State Beavers 12/18/14 near the end of a huge first half vs. Depaul. What makes this play work is that #30 Schaftenaar had the hot hand and the play had the look of a post clearout. X1 and X4 have a miscommuncation, Gary Payton II has a lob dunk, and BALLGAME!!! Favorite Send to FastDrawWhile going thru the game I was really impressed by Michigan’s first offensive play call out of half time, it involved great spacing, driving lanes, and the ball switching sides of the floor. The action forced Detroit to put multiple guys in rotations to protect the rim, guard a handoff, defend the drive, and recover to shooters. See More
