Favorite Send to FastDrawVillanova excelled all year long in special situations and this press breaker was no exception. A very simple action in design that could have been very easily stopped if the back screen was just switched. In terms of getting the ball in this play will almost always work against a M-M Full Court Defense, be clearing out the front court it’s easy to just enter the ball to the 2 guard. In this specific case Villanova hits the home run and gets an And 1, however all of the options were open. The 2 was open, 5 was open coming back to the ball and the 1 would have been open if he continued running forward after setting the screen. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawInnovative BLOB set by the Raptors. Most teams that run a double rip set usually run it for a bigger player. The Raptors run it here for a point guard. This can be a great action for teams who have bigger guards or who are looking to take advantage of a mismatch in the post. The Raptors have their 5 man set the first screen which is not an easy action to guard as majority of teams do not switch 1-5 and X1 has to fight over two screens. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Cavs ran this out of a timeout with LeBron James at the 4 and Kevin Love at the 5. The Pistons switched the 4/5 screen, but X1 did not switch off the downscreen quick enough to get to Love. He missed the shot here, but got a clean look. This can be a great ATO SLOB action for smaller teams/team with a big who can shoot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawStephen F. Austin and coach Brad Underwood were very aware of who they were -- they had a great lead guard in Thomas Walkup. By putting the ball in his hands and making a 1-4 high set look like a clearout for him to go to his strong hand, defenses were sucked into reading the action for him. Instead of running a set to clear out on his side, Underwood ran lots of traffic through the lane, getting all four help defenders to stand in the lane at one point. When the chaos cleared, what was left was an empty weak side, a perfect opportunity for a lob at the rim. By using their best shooter as the screener, there was no opportunity for the play to be foiled. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis action is a wrinkle on the popular NBA Hammer action by flooding the strong side with movement and screens. Most zipper actions are run to swing the ball across sides of the floor, so help defense will particularly fall into the trap after the zipper screen when the action returns to that strong side. That allows the hammer to be run to perfection. And with sharpshooter Danilo Gallinari as a screener, there's little opportunity to give help away from him. The Sixers help off Will Barton in the corner instead, and that allows Gallinari to get to the rim for the dunk! See More
