Favorite Send to FastDrawScreen the screener set (STS) ran by the Chicago Bulls this season. Commonly when a STS set is run, it will be followed by a ball screen ("Turn" action) in the spread pick and roll alignment which this set includes. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Warriors ran this play to start the second quarter of Game 4. x5 had to provide help on the backscreen to take away the layup. This got David West (5) wide open for a shot from the FT line. See More
Favorite Send to FastDraw"Zero-High" is a BLOB in the odd, even, zero series. It uses a screen-the-ball screener action, to set up a lob. See More
Favorite Send to FastDraw"Even-Low" is anther BLOB, which is a part of an odd, even, zero series. It uses two cuts, to occupy the defense, which sets up a lob at the front of the rim. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawKansas State ran this misdirection BLOB in the 2017 NCAA Tournament. On the catch, the 5 dribbles towards the weak side Flare Screen, while the 2 "rips" off of a baseline screen. This BLOB resulted in a wide open three pointer. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis BLOB has resulted in multiple big shots for the Cleveland Cavs. They ran it for a Kyrie Irving three pointer, in the 2016 NBA Playoffs against Detroit. They also ran it, as an ATO, in the 2017 NBA Playoffs for a game clinching lay-up. The stack formation makes it especially difficult to guard, as the defense can not pre-switch any of the actions. Favorite Send to FastDrawBecause Steve Kerr has the luxury of utilizing some of the best shooters in the world, he runs great actions like this one designed specifically for them. In UCLA Rip, he places two shooters on the same side and runs them in a three-man pattern with Draymond Green at the 4. The screening and attention paid to their shooters helps the backdoor pass from Green be effective -- which is why the two players not involved in the action must be lifted on the opposite side of the floor. Favorite Send to FastDraw"The Hill" is named after Greenhill School in Addison, Texas. At the 2017 TABC (Texas Association of Basketball Coaches) Clinic, there was a "Pass the Chalk" Event. This SLOB was drawn by Greenhill School boys varsity basketball coach, Joey Sims. I have added a double stagger to the end of the set, so that there is a secondary action, if the lob is not available. See More
Favorite Send to FastDraw"Flood" is a secondary break action, which ends with 3 options. The best option is a lob to the trailer, after the backscreen from the 1. The second option is the 1, on the out cut, for a shot. The third option is the 1 passing high/low to the 4. See More
Favorite Send to FastDraw"Banger" is a lob play, which is designed specifically for a zone defense. The key is for the 5 to sell the flash to the middle, to lift X5 from the middle of the zone. The ball reversals must also be "on time" and "on target." See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawZipper series from the Minnesota Lynx. See More
Favorite Send to FastDraw"Iverson STS Flare" is a set that creates an advantage with a ball screen, while offering an opportunity for a lob, or a 3-point shot. It is a set that can be run on multiple possessions, to generate a rhythm offensively. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Cleveland Cavs ran this ATO to get a quick postup for LeBron James, taking advantage of Toronto's strategy of switching screens on Kyle Korver.. Once 3 (Korver) got a good screen from 5, he sprinted off the baseline screen from 4 (James). Once x4 switched onto 3, 4 ducked in to receive the pass from 1 in the post. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn Game 2 of the Spurs-Rockets series, in the 2017 NBA Playoffs, Popovich ran this ATO set. It is a terrific design, based on the fact that the Spurs love to isolate Kawhi Leonard (3). On the screen-the-screener action, it looks like an isolation, but is actually a "Hammer Action." This is a screen, to set up the baseline drift pass. It resulted in a wide open 3 for Danny Green, as the Spurs opened up a 10-point halftime lead in Game 2. Look for more isolation sets, and "Hammer Actions" from the Spurs, throughout the Playoffs. See More
