Basketball Play - Boston Celtics - Punch SLOB

Boston Celtics - Punch SLOB

Timothy Hipps 10/07/2018

The Boston Celtics ran 3 end of game sideline out plays with 18 seconds left in a game vs Houston Rockets on 12/28/17. With a defensive foul and a few offensive fouls drawn, the Celtics were able to get 3 possessions late in the game. This is the 3rd SLOB they ran that 3.5 seconds. This is an excellent end of game set that gets a quick 2 when the defense may be set to better defend the 3. It's ideal for getting a quick 2 and immediately fouling. The defending team may be focused on a particular player or defending the 3 point shot. Basketball Play - Finland - Diamond 2

Finland - Diamond 2

Ryan Nguyen 09/18/2018

This is one of the many "Diamond" sets from Henrik Dettmann of the Finnish National Team. 2, a shooter, sets the back screen for 4. As x2 helps on the back screen, 5 dribbles out of the post into a handoff for 2. Because x2 bumps 4 on his cut, he is trailing behind 2 out of position to contest. See More

Basketball Play - Toledo Rockets - Horns Floppy: Spain SPNR Counter

Toledo Rockets - Horns Floppy: Spain SPNR Counter

Dave Nedbalek 08/26/2018

This is a counter from the base action I diagramed entitled, "Toledo Horns Floppy." This is a very simple yet effective counter you can run with this set. The vide below is not of this set itselft, but the base Horns Floppy action. As 2 comes off of 5's floppy screen, 4 will hit 2 and sprint straight into a side pick and roll. 2 will hunt the nail pulling the ball two bounces away from the screen looking to get in the paint with a scoring mindset first. As 4 rolls to the rim 5 will set a back screen on the defender in ball screen coverage. I worded that carefully to account for the likelihood of a switch. Screen the defender that is in ball screen coverage. After setting the back screen, 5 will pop to recover spacing/get outside of the 3pt line. This is a deadly action if you have a 5 who can step out and shoot it. 2's reads: 1) score 2) Lob/pass to 4 rolling 3) 5 popping It goes without saying that if the weak side defense hugs in, then 2 would kickout to 1, or 3 holding the side ready to shoot. Basketball Play - Russia - Misdirection STS BLOB

Russia - Misdirection STS BLOB

Diccon Lloyd-Smeath 08/10/2018

Misdirection BLOB from Russia Coach Sergey Bazarevich in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. Plays starts with 4 screening 3 to open space to receive a safety pass. Instead of receiving the safety, 4 cuts hard towards the inbounder. 2 (shooter) fakes to set a back screen for 4 and creates the misdirection. 2 then curls off a back screen from 5 for an open jump shot. Basketball Play - Doornekamp Action STS BLOB

Doornekamp Action STS BLOB

Diccon Lloyd-Smeath 08/04/2018

Nice set using Basketball Immersion's "Doornekamp Action" - a term for fake lifting for the safety pass and then cutting basket cutting, as 4 does in this set. Use a shooter as the back screener and clear the lane by placing 5 in the ball side corner and lifting the wing out of the weak side corner. This set works for all ages and abilities, and should result in an open shot or a switch to attack. More from Diccon: The Evolution of Spain PNR in International Basketball See More

Basketball Play - Milwaukee Bucks - Push Corner

Milwaukee Bucks - Push Corner

Austin Anderson 06/26/2018

Milwaukee had one of the most athletic lineups in the NBA last season. The Bucks were successful when they were able to play through Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton. Giannis is extremely gifted with size and athleticism, which gives him the ability to finish easily in and around the paint. Middleton was exceptional in post ups, moving off screens, and improved his pick/roll play. Milwaukee's corner offense provides multiple options in a set. Push Corner has a back screen to post option, and a side ball screen/ weak side pin option. At anytime, Eric Bledsoe and Malcolm Brogdon can slip the corner cut for a basket if teams anticipate the play call. See More

Basketball Play - Callisburg Ladycats - Vegas Early Offense

Callisburg Ladycats - Vegas Early Offense

Robert Payne 06/21/2018

This early offense is designed to create a quick hit for a trailing 5, using a down screen spot up or back screen for a layup. It works on either side of the court. This action creates pick/roll, pick/pop, and drive/kick opportunities. We use this to get a quick look and then roll into our offensive set. The 3 is our best decision maker /shooter. See More

Basketball Play - Boston Celtics - Point Curl

Boston Celtics - Point Curl

Austin Anderson 05/15/2018

This play is also from Boston's Point Series. The play is initiated by "point" i.e. a single away. The 1 will follow his pass and 2 recieves a back screen to the paint from 5. As the 2 runs off a baseline single from 4, 5 sets a pin for 3. The entire defense is involved guarding singles on both sides.
