Basketball Play - Flood C vs Match-up Zone

Flood C vs Match-up Zone

Rory Hamilton 03/26/2018

"Flood C" is a set to run vs a Match-up Zone Defense. It is the counter to "Flood" and is run to get a 3pt shot from the corner. The play begins the same way as flood and the action stays the same. Where this play differs from Flood is that instead of throwing back to the 1 after the drag dribble, 2 throws it right back to the 4. 5 sets a screen on the bottom of the zone and 3 comes back ball side looking to catch and shoot behind 5's screen. Although this set is not enthusiastically run, or defended, it is nontheless a good action. The intitial set up looks like it is going to be your basic dribble handoff into a ball screen action, but instead it is a quick pitch to a flare for a 3pt look, or a slip to the rim. Ran with some pace, this could be a really good quick transition action. See More

Basketball Play - Michigan Wolverines- 42 Clear

Michigan Wolverines- 42 Clear

Doug Brotherton 03/16/2018

Michigan ran this set, to counter Montana's aggressive traps in the Wolverine's ball screens. This set clears the space behind the ball screen, allowing the screener to pop. Michigan ran this for their best shooter. At the end of the set, the screener can shoot the 3, or make the extra pass for a better shot.
