Favorite Send to FastDrawI love this drill because it works on several components of improvement all at once: Ball Handling: Force your players out of their comfort zone and to dribble lower and quicker each time, that is the only way to improve Footwork: Creating space and finishing with the least amount of dribbles Finishing Through/Over/Around the Defense: This drill consists of a multiple of different types of shots and finishes that are great to add to your players' repertoire. Favorite Send to FastDrawThe USA Basketball team ran this baseline out of bounds play a few weeks back during their scrimmage in Las Vegas. If 2 is able to curl into the lane that is the preferred cut. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawLast night I wanted to get to bed early after moving all weekend but got caught watching the 2008 NBA Finals between the Lakers-Celtics, and I couldn't turn it off! This is an action out of Phil Jackson's Triangle Offense that allows for two simultaneous scoring cuts from Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher. If the defense over helps on either screen slip 3 or 4 to the rim. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawDuring Game 4 of the 2008 NBA Finals between the Lakers and Celtics, Doc Rivers ran this quick post-up action out of an elbow set. The key to this is having 3 push their defender over top or at least get them between themself and the rim in order to button hook into a post and seal. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Louisville Cardinals ran this play in the 2nd half of the 2013 National Championship game versus Michigan. If you watch Rick Pitino and Billy Donovan enough you know they love to run baseline staggers. This is a great quick hitter that got point guard Peyton Siva some easy looks from mid-range. Favorite Send to FastDrawMichigan's John Beilein ran this play versus Syracuse in the 2013 Final Four in Atlanta. This action consists of tons of movement forcing the defense to communicate and scramble around. As the defense scrambles to match-up to cutters, it is a great opportunity to set a pick & roll on the zone. To see every play Michigan ran during the 2013 Final Four check out my ebook, Championship Execution. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis double stagger into a triple stagger from Florida State's Leonard Hamilton is a great action to get your guards coming off multiple screens. This play also creates a great situation to get 1 into a pick & roll action below the free-throw line. After 1 receives the ball, if they don't have any scoring options spread the floor and have 5 set a quick pick on the ball. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a play that Jim Boeheim frequented during the 2013 Final Four. I love this set because of the continuous screening actions after the initial stagger pick & roll. The first two options of the play are for 1 to come off and attack the rim and if he can't throwback to 4 for a catch & shoot. If neither of those options are open 2 comes off the second set of staggers for a multiple of options. For every play Syracuse ran during the 2013 Final Four check out my eBook, "Championship Execution". See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis zone offense play from Wichita State was run versus Louisville in the 2013 Final Four. This play from Gregg Marshall is one of my favorite zone offense actions of all time; mostly because Billy Donovan runs it frequently, and very well. Setting the pick & roll on the top of the zone forces X2 to help or switch onto the ball. On the pass from 2 to 1, X2 is caught trying to recover so X4 starts sliding up to stunt. Making for a perfect opportunity for 5 to duck in hard on the zone for a post-up. For every play Wichita State ran during the 2013 Final Four check out my eBook, “Championship Execution”. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawLouisville ran this pick & roll play in their 2013 Final Four game versus Wichita State. Siva (1) did an excellent job head hunting X5 after flipping the ball to 2. This action happened very quickly as 2 attacked the paint X4 had to stunt at the ball and X3 sank down to cover 4. All of this action forced so much help that 2 was able to find 3 spotting up in the corner for a catch & shoot.
