Basketball Play - Miami Heat "35 Slice"

Miami Heat "35 Slice"

Brandon Mullis 11/05/2015

At the end of the 2nd quarter of their final preseason game against the New Orleans Pelicans, the Miami Heat ran this set to Gerald Green to get to the rim for a wide open lay-up. Green came off the wing ball screen attacking the rim, but also had options to pass to a cutting Josh McRoberts or shooters on the perimeter spotting up. This is really good action for an end of shot clock or end of quarter type of set, to get one of your best penetrators and athletes attacking the rim, or if the defense collapses on penetration, a kick out for an open 3-pointer. Basketball Play - EWU DHO Weave

EWU DHO Weave

Wes Kosel 10/29/2015

1 dribbles off of a high ball-screen from 5 and gives the ball to 2 on a dribble hand-off. 2 then dribbles left giving 3 the ball on a dribble hand-off. 2 and 5 shape up, and 3 dribbles right giving 4 the ball on a dribble hand-off. This play can keep going to lull the defense to sleep, but at some point a player needs to attack the rim off of the hand-off option. See More

Basketball Play - 3-on-3 Guts

3-on-3 Guts

Randy Sherman 10/21/2015

3-on-3 Guts is an excellent live drill for reviewing and polishing your team defensive fundamentals. Further, it is a live drill to teach players how to get through adversity. It stresses the importance of getting and stringing together defensive stops. This drill is also an opportunity for the offense to use motion offense principles RULES: Defense must make four consecutive stops before going to offense Stops are defined as defensive rebounds, steals or out of bounds possessions If the offense scores or gets fouled, the defensive "stop count" goes back to zero Offensive charges count as four stops Offense goes down and back and a new offensive group comes on the floor Do not change directions until the ball touches the rim or offense scores (teams switch directions after Defensive rebouds or Offensive FGM) Check the ball in after steals and fouls Offense must inbound the ball on all out of bounds situations See More

Basketball Play - 5 (Split Options)

5 (Split Options)

Craig LeVasseur 09/21/2015

Miami's "5" set, a variation of Mike D'Antoni's Delay offense in New York, begins with this basic split action, with multiple options for the offense based on how the defense reacts. The Heat used this set to great success during their 2012-13 championship season. See More

Basketball Play - Zone/Man High Flex Single

Zone/Man High Flex Single

Wes Kosel 09/15/2015

This play can be used as a man or zone set. We saw this used against our zone defense this past season. The play starts with 1 passing to 5 then cutting off of a screen from 3 in the lane. 3 leaves the wing by rubbing off of a screen from 2. 5 passes to 2, then screens down for 3. The hope is that against a zone defense the top zone defender is preoccupied with 2 leaving a two on one situation at the top of the key. See More
