Basketball Play - Carolina Lob

Carolina Lob

Randy Brown 02/06/2014

This is a great play to run against man to man and zone. 1 dribbles to the wing and 2 replaces 1's spot. On the 1-2 ball reversal, 4 flashes into the paint to draw his defender. At the same time, 5 crosses lane and sets back screen for 3 for lob play. See More

This is a great drill that helps your post players improve on their footwork, hand-eye coordination, and finishing around the rim. Basketball Play - "Chomp"

"Chomp"

Kyle Gilreath 02/06/2014

This is a play that VCU head coach Shaka Smart ran in his first season with the Rams. This play is all about timing and patience. 4 must wait for 5 to clear the elbow before rolling out to set the pick. Furthermore, 1 must also be patient and allow 4 to be set before using the screen. See More

Basketball Play - Power Gap

Power Gap

Kyle Gilreath 02/05/2014

Last night the Florida Gators ran this zone offense play which lead to Freshman Chris Walker’s first points in a Gator uniform. If you watch Florida enough, you know that Billy Donovan frequently runs pick & rolls versus a zone to get two defenders guarding one and put the defense in compromising situations. This overloaded action does just that. What makes this play especially hard to guard is Florida had two point guards on the Florida making them extra dangerous on the dribble. As Kasey Hill came off the pick, not only did he have the options shown below, but he also had a throwback option to their lethal 3-point threat Michael Frazier II. Basketball Play - Cutters High-Low

Cutters High-Low

Dana Beszczynski 02/05/2014

The Demon Deacons have already knocked off UNC this year and were looking to take down the mighty Orangemen last night at the Joel, but it wasn't meant to be. Wake Forest has a really good Continuity Offense they used with some effect in the 1st half to seize control of the high post area against the vaulted 2-3 Zone of Jim Boeheim. This play really does a good job of working under the zone as well and with the continuous high post action, many open shots can be found with a good passing big man. See More

Basketball Play - 1 Baseline

1 Baseline

Dana Beszczynski 02/04/2014

Last night this play was run at the beginning of the game between the Florida Gators and Mississippi State. It struck me as such a strong opening play that I had to diagram it and share with the other coaches out there. A lot of movement, the use of the DHO and at the end, a perfectly played pass inside for the seal action and easy basket. A great play to open the game when you have a strong 5 man who can get the 1st position inside and go to work. Billy Donovan runs some of the most dynamic sets in the college game today. See More
