These are unique alignments and we make small adjustments in order for us to cover these attacks successfully.
Some teams may use a 1-4 High alignment to distort the 1-3-1 and try to enter to the weak side elbow player which is the 5 man in the diagram. We match up in our area and leave the farthest pass away from the ball open which in this case is the 3 man. Our warrior has one foot in paint to help on potential high low.
If the post player flashes we deny forcing the skip pass to the 3 man.
If they complete a pass, the pusher (X4) must pressure the passer hands high to negate potential high-low with the 4 man. X5 fronts the dive by the post player and the Warrior (X1) and pushe (X2) provide support while reading shoulders of offensive player for the next pass.
