I liked this set to open up the game because there was a lot of off ball movement. This looks like it was a read by Jaylen Brown who decided to flare the stagger screen. Having Marcus Smart pass to the elbow and do a fake handoff with Amir Johnson distracted the defense from the off ball screen Isaiah Thomas was being run through. The inbounder is the most forgettable player in baseline and sideline out of bounds plays. In this set, Notre Dame took advantage of North Carolina by playing small. Knowing that a big man (Isaiah Hicks) was guarding the inbounder, they decided to run a play for the inbounder (Steve Vasturia) off of a stagger screen. This allowed him to get a wide open look. This was a nice set coming out of a timeout for the Thunder to get Kevin Durant an open three pointer. While it was not the first option (Ibaka going across the flex screen for an open layup was), they ran the progression and Durant got the look he wanted. This is an excellent play designed by Purdue Coach Matt Painter out of a Box Set. Purdue runs a pass entry into a UCLA screening action. With the opposite big popping to the TOK, the PG sets a shuffle cut and runs into a double stagger. On the pass to the TOK, the wing then runs baseline off a triple screen to the opposite side looking to make the defense chase. Late in games when the Bulls are trailing or in need of a 3 point shot, they run this action for Butler. Butler sets a ballscreen for the point guard on the wing and then cuts off a flare screen from the trailing big (think 21 action). After the point guard clears the ballscreen he attacks baseline as a decoy, the big fakes chasing the point guard for a ballscreen and turns to rescreen Butler cutting back to the ball. See More

Considering the time and score, the Golden State Warriors wanted to play sound defense and definitely not give up a three-pointer. At the same time, they did not want to give up a lob, which would have taken very little time off of the clock. This end of game set gave the 76ers both options and they took the corner three-pointer from an Isaiah Canaan who was on fire.
