This play is based on the North Carolina approach to secondary break offense made popular by Dean Smith and Roy Williams. Spurs Sprint Side Ball Screen
07/07/2013The Spurs ran this against the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals to create seperation on #21 Tim Duncan's side ball screen. #4 Danny Green while Duncan was trailing the play set his man up and set a screen for Duncan so he had a great screening angle on #9 Tony Parker. 07/05/2013A very simple and common set that the San Antonio Spurs ran and scored effectively in the NBA Finals was their screen the screener action out of Early Offense. Miami began defending it by having their weakside corner defender moving up to the top of the key to be there on the catch, and allowing their defender to chuck the post player coming across the lane longer. Miami Heat Post Iso for Lebron James
05/11/2013The Miami Heat ran this set Wednesday night in Game 2 and they also ran it this evening in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals versus the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls being one of the most defensive minded teams in the league, I was surprised they got caught on this same play a second time. As the defense quickly showed on the 3->4 screen, Lebron does a very good job with his footwork creating position on the block for an easy angle to post-up. See More

The quick hitter is tremendous because it flows right out of transition and seeks to put the ball in the hands of your best players (2 and 5) multiple times.
