Alan Peel is the owner and operator of the website CoachPeelBasketball.com, a website dedicated to helping basketball coaches expand the breadth and depth of their basketball knowledge.  He is currently assisting at Bishop Miege High School in Shawnee Mission, KS under the direction of their head boys' basketball coach Rick Zych.

 

As a high school coach, Coach Peel ran the freshman boys’ basketball program at Turner High School in Kansas City, KS.  Under his leadership, the freshman team improved their win total from the previous season and won as many games as the boys’ varsity and junior varsity programs combined.  Coach Peel returned to his alma mater Bishop Miege High School in Shawnee Mission, KS where he served as the team's varsity and junior varsity boys' basketball assistant coach.  Specializing in scouting opponents and using FastModel to write the team's scouting reports, Bishop Miege engineered a 15-win turnaround, won the East Kansas League title, and finished 3rd in the Kansas 4A-Division I State Tournament.

 

As a college coach, Coach Peel coached both at Rockhurst University and William Jewell College under Bill O’Connor and Larry Holley respectively.  Coach Peel’s experience on the collegiate level has focused on scouting and video analysis.  While at William Jewell during two stints (2004-05 and 2009-10), the Cardinals won two Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) postseason tournament titles, appeared in two NAIA men’s national championship tournaments, and won the HAAC regular season championship in 2005.  At Rockhurst, the Hawks competed in their first year as a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference and was on a coaching staff that also featured current Rockhurst women’s head coach Larry Park.
