Basketball Play - Lincoln Prep - 2-3 Zone Quick Hitter

Lincoln Prep - 2-3 Zone Quick Hitter

Jeff Luera 10/29/2022

This is a simple and effective zone quick hitter against a 2-3 defense. This play can be used at any time during the game. This simple play does a great job of getting the 2-3 zone out of position for a wide open three or a baseline drive. The 1 passes the ball to 2 and clears out to the weak side corner The 4 comes up and sets a screen on the strong side defender on the ball. The 2 attacks hard off this ball screen and MUST freeze the opposite defender of the 2-3 zone at the top and will kick out to the weak side wing (3). The 3 quickly swings the ball to the corner for a wide open shot or dribble drive into the middle of the defense. This play is simple but you can play with your positions to get exactly what you want out of this play! See More

Basketball Play - High Ball Screen Continuity Offense: "Flow"

High Ball Screen Continuity Offense: "Flow"

Matt Hackenberg 12/10/2021

This is a breakdown of an offense we call "Flow." Flow is three guard, two forward offense that is a hybrid of a ball screen offense and dribble drive concepts. It has options to attack driving gaps and play pick and roll. I really think the roll and replace concept is hard to guard, and we often found the replacing big wide open at the top of the key. Obviously, playmaking guards are a centerpiece to this concept. Basketball Play - Euro Ball Screen Offense ("Wave")

Euro Ball Screen Offense ("Wave")

Matt Hackenberg 12/09/2021

In 2014, the team I was coaching lost in the Ohio High School State Finals to a GREAT defensive team. We ran our entire offensive package (dribble drive, sets, high ball screens, etc.) at them and could not get any good looks. The feeling from that game led me on a search to find a great continuity offense that included screening, ball reversals and the option to use it for interior shots or perimeter shots. The search culminated in finding the 5-Out Euro Ball Screen Offense from watching the Olympics. We took the basics of the offense, added some bells and whistles, and made it something that could accomplish all we were looking for in an offense. We incorporated sets out of the flow of the offense, motion numbered cutting principles and various entries to spice things up. We put all that information into 45 extremely detailed pages of a PDF file on this offense and all the teaching points involved in making it your offense. To purchase the PDF, click here: https://sellfy.com/p/8JOh/ Aquinas' main man-to-man offense from the 2014-15 season was continuity ball screen attack we called "Wave." It was our first year running it as our main offense but used it as a set play the previous season. We were able to use a lot of different features within the offense to attack our opponents and many of those features are outlined in this video. Depending on the strengths of the players, the offense can be more tailored for the perimeter or the interior. We used multiple entries including several not shown on the video and numbered cut system so the players could communicate which screens and cuts they were about to make. Basketball Play - Zone Quick Hitter - Dribble Push

Zone Quick Hitter - Dribble Push

Michael Lynch 11/13/2018

Here is a way to incorporate a dribble drive attack into your zone offense. Using a wing dribble entry, we shift the defense to the ball side, then set a backside ball screen to create a 2/1 on the backside. Basketball Play - 4v4 Neutral Restrictions

4v4 Neutral Restrictions

Michael Lynch 08/31/2018

Using four out perimeter spacing we try to recreate game like situations in the short sided game (SSG) format. Here we have our most common actions within our Dribble Drive Motion system. Starting the SSG in a neutral scenario, it is up to the offense to use a pre-determined action to create A) a Double Gap and B) Drive the Basketball into it. Coaches can pre-determine the action or simply allow players to create freely. See videos below for game examples of these actions! Basketball Play - Boston College 4v4 Transition Drill

Boston College 4v4 Transition Drill

Michael Lynch 08/13/2018

The progression of drills is really effective in this Boston College "Fast Break Concepts" video created by Coach Chris Oliver of @BballImmersion. The 4v4 Transition Drill that begins at about the 7:00 mark was one that I thought was particularly useful. The Offense starts with a slight 4 v 2 advantage and seeks to make a pitch ahead pass for a score. Whether the offense misses or makes, the defense will then take the ball back up the court 4v4. Basketball Play - 11 Man Fast Break Drill

11 Man Fast Break Drill

Michael Lynch 06/24/2018

The 11 Man Fastbreak is one of our players' favorite drills. It is essentially a continous 3 on 2 transition drill that we use to emphasize pitch aheads and "Finding Advantages." This is generally a drill where I try not to blow the whistle much, but I will blow the whistle if we are straying from our transtion principles. I generally choose to emphasize 1) Running the Sideline Hard, 2) Hunting Pitch Ahead Passes, 3) Keeping Advantages Alive, and 4) Attacking the Rim. Basketball Play - Leicester Wolverines - Second Cutting

Leicester Wolverines - Second Cutting

Michael Lynch 06/21/2018

We think of "Second Cutting" as what we do when the ball has been driven and stopped. Our "First Cut" is our spacing on the drive, and then our "Second Cut" is our reaction if that drive is stopped. These are not predetermined cuts but ones made based on the decisions our own defender makes. These are two ways we drill this scenario in a Short-Sided Game setting. See video below for drill demonstration. From the FMS Blog: Program Spotlight - Leicester Wolverines Skill Building for Dribble Drive Motion Offense Keys to Designing a DDM Practice Plan See More
