Favorite Send to FastDrawWhile some coaches are scared to teach 1-handed passes, I think it is essential in improving passing skills. If they are strong passers with 1 hand just imagine what they are capable of with 2! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawPut a ball on each chair, have your players get low and grab the ball of the chair and take a large and long drop-step dribble toward the rim. Do this drill for either 30 seconds or 1 minute. See More
Favorite Send to FastDraw1-on-1 offense and defense are some of the most important and under utilized drills in basketball. Limiting the amount of space a player has to work with really forces to them improve on their handle. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a great shooting drill that ends with a set of free-throws "under pressure". See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWith .6 seconds left during game 3 of the NBA Summer League, the Brooklyn Nets ran this sideline out of bounds play to try and win the 4th quarter and secure a point. Considering the lights went out previous to this play, the Nets did a great job executing this play and hit a 3-pointer. Unfortunately, time expired before the shot got off. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawTuesday morning during their NBA Orlando Summer League game the Boston Celtics ran this post up action for Kelly Olynyk. What I love about this plays is usueally teams post up the player where the 3 is after 2 tries to rub into X3. But since X5 has to sit outside the lane or touch 5 this is a great set to run in the NBA because the floor is spaced for a nice post up on the block. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Orlando Magic ran this simultaneous pin down action yesterday out of the horns set. This is a very simple play to put into your system that gives you multiple scoring options. Options: 1. While 4 help defenders are occupied with the pindowns 1 has the option to take his man on the dribble to the rim or pull-up jumper. 2. Hit 2 or 3 on the pop or curl for a shot. 3. If 2 or 3 do not make a scoring play, have the big set a side or step-up pick & roll for them. 4. If X4 or X5 over help on the pin down, slip your bigs to the rim for a lob. 5. Have 2 and 3 come off the pindowns and set up in a horns set for pick & roll options for 1. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Houston Rockets ran this end of quarter play yesterday to get Patrick Beverly a quick shot. This play looks very simple but the execution in which the Rockets executed was phenomenal! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Utah Jazz ran this sideline out of bounds action during the 2013 NBA Orlando Summer League. This play is somewhat similar to the "Triple" I drew up earlier but it actually got into a Floppy action for the ending. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Philadelphia 76ers ran this sideline out of bounds play several times yesterday during the 2013 NBA Summer League in Orlando. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Orlando Magic ran this action on versus the Boston Celtics during the 2013 Orlando Summer League. This is just another option out of the elbow set that I discussed several weeks ago! With the defense in helpside position (especially in high school in college where defensive 3 seconds is not a rule), this is a great action if you have bigger guards to duck and seal hard in the middle of the lane for a quick turn and finish. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a great shooting and conditioning drill that keeps all of your players moving throughout the entire drill. Make sure the passers are feeding the shooters with great passes right in their shooting pocket! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawAt Fort Myers High School we run the Read and React Offense from Better Basketball. If you are not familiar with the offense it consists of five spots that should always be filled. If your defenders feet are above the three point line (Read Line) and you are one pass away we tell our players to immediately cut back door. With that in mind this morning I put a couple of our guys through a grueling session of finishing moves which incorporates this concept. When finishing from the sides I like to teach my players to get their shoulders parallel with the baseline to product themselves and the ball from a defender. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is an excellent sideline out of bounds misdirection that I put in towards the end of the season last year with my Junior Varsity team. If 2 does a great job selling like he wants to pass to 1, and 4 sets a great screen, there is a good chance 3 will be open for a quick score! See More
