Basketball Play - Stanford Diamond Special

Stanford Diamond Special

Randy Sherman 06/18/2015

In this diamond set, the cutter can choose which pin screen they want to use. The player at the top of the diamond exits opposite the cutter. Screening post then sets a cross screen for the other post. That player goes into an underneath ball screen with a wing spotted up in the opposite corner. Basketball Play - 1-Game

1-Game

Randy Sherman 05/30/2015

Four-Out continuity offense Tips for running 1-game: Make it your secondary break. Sprint off the rebound or opponent's made FG to these spots. When the ball is reversed, you are in 1-game After you pass to the high post, WAIT until they fully reverse. THEN cut hard right off their butt. (brush screen) It is the cutter's responsibility to time this. The high post is simply going to downscreen. When reversing to the single guard side, look for the overplay and backdoor cut When you have the ball at the wing DO NOT make pass to the high post until you have check the cuttter coming off the brush screen AND the screening post rolling back to you! Basketball Play - 3 on 3 on Top (side ball screen)

3 on 3 on Top (side ball screen)

Randy Sherman 05/21/2015

3 on 3 on Top (side/wing ball screen) Offensive restriciton: pass and follow to the ball screen. There are many ways to teach defending ball screens. In this drill you can practice trapping the ball screen, ICEing the ball screen, flat hedging or hard hedging. Adapt it to your personal philosophy. For the #PressureManTips series, I will illustrate the hard hedge (some call this "blitz"). Points of emphasis: HEDGE: get hip-to-hip with the screener, widen the wide side of your body by extending outside arm and leg. Make the ball handler "bubble" their dribble, go with them 2-3 steps then recover. ON THE BALL: reach your away foot over the top foot of the screener and then run through the gap to recover to man and force back up the rooftop. HELP: Break the Line Rules and get to midline! even though the ball is at or above FTLE, get to midline. Look for anything "leaking" out of the ball screen (slip, roll or reject) Drill continues with pass and follow to ball screen action. See More
