Basketball Play - Loyola Chicago - Punch Hammer

Loyola Chicago - Punch Hammer

Doug Brotherton 03/15/2018

Loyola Chicago ran the best set play of the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. This "Punch Hammer" set resulted in a wide open 3, to tie the game, late in the second half. The post entry sucks in the help defense, before the baseline skip pass (HAMMER ACTION) led to the important 3pt shot. The Ramblers of Loyola Chicago went on to upset Miami, on a buzzer beater, and beat Nevada and Kansas State en route to the Final Four. Basketball Play - Iowa Hawkeyes - Zipper Motion Pin/Flare

Iowa Hawkeyes - Zipper Motion Pin/Flare

Dymetrius Ware 03/06/2018

Former Iowa coach Dr. Tom Davis would run this motion offense set with great success for the Hawkeyes. It incorporates various types of screens (zipper, pin down, flare) to ultimately free up multiple shooters for an open looks. 3 has option to hit whoever is open, or create for themselves in middle of the floor as defense will be spread out and focusing on screens. Basketball Play - Toronto Raptors - Pistol Options

Toronto Raptors - Pistol Options

Cooper Smither 01/09/2018

This early offense action is widely used throughout the entire NBA, as well as through other levels of basketball. The version the Toronto Raptors have used over the past couple seasons has manufactured many mismatches for their talented back court, as it allows them to attack downhill while the defense is not set, but also creates advantages for secondary players as well. Basketball Play - Golden State Warriors - Handback Elbow Flare

Golden State Warriors - Handback Elbow Flare

Matt Wheeler 01/09/2018

The Golden State Warriors ran this as the opening play of the fourth quarter in their Christmas Day game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The multiple quick actions caused the defense to get confused, getting 4 open for a shot. 4 faked the screen for 2 before coming off the flare screen. This caused x4 to provide help on the fake screen, allowing him to get screened by 2. By using a shooter in Klay Thompson (2) to set the screen, x2 wasn't able to leave his man and 4 got open at the three point line. See More

Basketball Play - Philadelphia 76ers - ATO "Ear Tug"

Philadelphia 76ers - ATO "Ear Tug"

Ryan Nguyen 12/18/2017

The Philadelphia 76ers like to run this "logo" ball screen action for Ben Simmons to prevent defenses from going under. If Simmons is open on the UCLA cut, they'll look to hit for a quick layup. If the layup is not available, 5 will set a flare screen for 2, creating a post split action to prevent defense from digging. See More
