Basketball Play - Triangle Down

Triangle Down

Kyle Gilreath 10/24/2013

The Miami Heat ran this action versus the Pelicans Wednesday night to get Chris Anderson an easy dunk at the rim. As 1 was screening for 3, the defense became very oppupied with defending Wade (not seeing the ball). Furthermore, X2 and X5 did not communicate and both ended up on 2, leaving 5 wide open rolling to the rim with no helpside. See More

Triangle Low

This play came from the 2005 Houston Rockets when they ran this play towards the end of a Playoff game. Screen the screener is a very common action out of bounds but the way this play was ran I do not see very often. I also love the pick & roll action right after the catch. See More

Last night I wanted to get to bed early after moving all weekend but got caught watching the 2008 NBA Finals between the Lakers-Celtics, and I couldn't turn it off! This is an action out of Phil Jackson's Triangle Offense that allows for two simultaneous scoring cuts from Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher. If the defense over helps on either screen slip 3 or 4 to the rim. See More

Basketball Play - Triangle Fast Break

Triangle Fast Break

Kyle Gilreath 07/02/2013

Occasionally while pressing the defense gets overaggressive and the trap breaks down and the ball gets ahead creating a 5 on 3 situation. This is the perfect drill to teach your players to never give up on a play and to sprint back trying to get a back tip in transition. See More

Basketball Play - Triangle Late Game

Triangle Late Game

Kyle Gilreath 05/23/2013

This is the play the Miami Heat ran last night to Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals versus the Indiana Pacers. The sports world and social media are a buzz about this play mostly because of Hibbert sitting out and George over playing. But let's give credit to Eric Spoelstra. He ran this same exact play at the end of the 4th quarter to get Ray Allen a game winning 3-pointer that came up short. With Hibbert out of the game this play really spread out the floor to open up the driving lane for Lebron to make the game winning lay-up. See More

Basketball Play - Triangle Cross

Triangle Cross

If getting the ball to your posts in the paint is part of your game plan, this play will help. It incorporates ball reversal, cutting and screening. This can be run to the left or right side of the floor, depending on which post, 4 or 5, you plan to get open to score. You can use your three man as the scorer also in a mis-match situation.
