West Virginia Princeton Action
03/24/2017West Virginia used this Princeton type action last night against Gonzaga in their Sweet 16 match-up. Carter runs off the FT line screen into a double stagger looking to catch & shoot off the pass from the TOK. If there's no shot, he has the option to throw inside and the 5 man's down screen or exchange with 3 can also lead to a Hi / Lo off the wing pass to the FT Line area. The play closes with a corner ball screen action when the post has no attack option to the basket and the PG makes the read shooting behind the screen. See More

Xavier - Shuffle Stagger Floppy
03/24/2017This set is one of my favorites of the 2017 NCAA Tournament. There are numerous scoring opportunities, as it is a combination of multiple actions. Xavier ran this set in their Sweet 16 game, against Arizona. The set resulted in a wide open three point attempt. The play gets a ball reversal, has a shuffle cut, double stagger screen, and flows into Floppy action. Great stuff by Coach Mack! See More

Virginia "5 Shake"
03/21/2017This is an Offensive staple of the Virginia Cavaliers. This offense is so well run by the Cavaliers, they read everything so well and know how to move without the ball. Tony Bennett is such a defensive guru, but this Offensive action they run is really nice to watch and the continuity keeps it moving throughout the shot clock. See More

North Carolina - Box Stagger
03/20/2017It is amazing to watch the 2017 NCAA Tournament and realize how important basic fundamentals are to the success of the teams. North Carolina ran this great ATO, which got their leading scorer a wide open look. Unfortunately, the pass was too low, and resulted in a lay-up for the other team. That does not diminish the quality of this set, which has a post up option, as well as a shot from a double stagger. North Carolina executed down the stretch, beating Arkansas, to advance to the Sweet 16. See More

Middle Tennessee - PNR Misdirection Double
03/19/2017Middle Tennesse ran this play multiple times in their game against Butler. After the ball is reversed on the ball screen 2 cuts hard to the weakside. When 3 comes off the dribble handoff 2 changes direction to use staggered screen for a 3 point shot. See More

Iowa State - ATO BLOB Stagger Single STS
03/19/2017Iowa State ran this BLOB after the under-4 media timeout in the second half to tie the game against Purdue. A staggered screen along the baseline sends a shooter to the corner, and a screen for the first screener opens them up for a mid-range jumper. See More

Iowa State - ATO BLOB 4 Low Stagger STS
03/19/2017After the 12 minute TV timeout in the second half, Iowa State ran this 4 low BLOB for a look at a 3. There looked to be an option for the 5 to set a screen for the 4 after 4's screen, but it did not happen in this instance as the 3 took the corner 3. See More

Purdue - DHO 45 Baseline Double Stagger
03/19/2017With 48.3 seconds left in the 1st half, Purdue ran this quick hitter for their best shooter to get a 3 in the corner off a double stagger along the baseline. Good set for late clock situations, after timeout, or needing a 3. See More
