After missing a shot to take the lead in the final seconds of its game against Argentina, the USA Men's World Cup Qualifying Team found themselves in an end-of-game BLOB situation.
They were down 1 with one second left in the game. Head Coach Jeff Van Gundy called a timeout to draw up this play to take advantage of a common late-game defensive tactic of switching all screens. 2 curls around 3 to force the defensive switch. This got the smallest defender on the court switched onto 3. 3 then pops to the corner to receive the pass from 1. Now having the size advantage over x2, 3 was able to rise up and make a tough contested shot against the smaller defender.
