Basketball Play - Atlanta

Atlanta

Andrew Lacey 08/10/2014

Here is a play out of the Box alignment that can be used in late game situations when you need a easy lay-up or three. We use the concepts that we try to have all of our screens set to where they cause a mismatch if the defense was to switch. Meaning other than the intial back screen all other screens in this play are Bigs/Small screening each other. See More

Basketball Play - PRICELESS

PRICELESS

Marc Skelton 07/27/2014

This has been called "The Beautiful Play". The Spurs ran this at the end of the 3rd quarter in Game 6 of the WCF at OKC. The Spurs are winning 72-69 and have possession after a great steal and hustle play by Patty Mills. Coach Popovich calls the play. Manu gets the guys in the right position and waits the clock out. Around 7 seconds left on the clock Duncan sprints to screen Fisher. Manu dribbles left and hits Mills. Mills fires to Duncan. Duncan hits Boris in the corner for a three as the shot clock expires. The Spurs would go on to win Game 6 in overtime. This play includes end of quarter situations, communication, first class passing, and they did it on the road. Beautiful. See More

Basketball Play - Zipper 2014

Zipper 2014

Sebastian Wild 07/13/2014

This is a great set, run in variations by numerous NBA Teams, if you are looking to exploid an overly agressive defense with multiple ball-screen/dribble hand-off actions within a short amount of time. It is set up by a "zipper" action and features scoring options for all 5 players on the court. This has been our go-to play last season, as it allows you to get multiple chances a high percentage shot off of movement, while being very simplistic and easy to install. See More

Basketball Play - Hammer

Hammer

Luke Riegel 06/23/2014

This action is a great ATO option, especially if you have a good shooting 2 man and a 3 man that can beat his defender and attack off the bounce. The purpose of the action is to get the defense to overreact to the dribble penetration towards the baseline, while opening up 3-point shot opportunities for your guards (2 or 1) on the perimeter. Basketball Play - "Horns 2"

"Horns 2"

Luke Riegel 06/23/2014

This is a possible counter action to the traditional "Horns" double high ball screen action. The set is particularly effective if you have guards that are good at moving without the basketball and shooting while coming off screens. The floor spacing allows your guards to read how they are being guarded defensively and to take advantage of curl and fade cuts. See More

Basketball Play - SPURS - HIGH POST DOUBLE SPLIT

SPURS - HIGH POST DOUBLE SPLIT

Jens Hakanowitz 06/15/2014

The San Antonio Spurs started into Game 3 of the NBA Finals with this set. It includes the typical Spurs baseline stagger screen, followed by a side Pick & Roll action. A down screen action in the middle keeps the defense occupied and opens up the ball screener on his pop against Miami's ICE defense. In this case, Diaw attacks Bosh together with Duncan in a 2on1 situation. See More

Basketball Play - Rhody Back Side

Rhody Back Side

Kyle Gilreath 06/13/2014

In their Game 4 win of the 2014 NBA Finals, the San Antonio Spurs ran this half-court set which included a multitude of actions. As soon as 3 cleared 4, 2 was moving to set the backscreen. This timing allowed for 5 to pin-down for 2 and receive the ball on the move popping out. 5 set such a good pick and sealed in the lane that X4 had to help in the lane and allowed for an open throwback to Diaw. Basketball Play - Elbow Curl

Elbow Curl

Kyle Gilreath 06/09/2014

In Game 2 of the 2014 NBA Final, LeBron James went on a scoring streak in the 2nd half and became unguardable. The Spurs did a very good job guarding him, he was just unconscious. If you watch the Heat you know that Erik Spoelstra loves running elbow actions that usually go into a flex or some kind of hand-off with a weak side pin-down. However, on this set he got the ball to the hot hand, LeBron, by running the double curl action. See More

In Game 2 of the 2014 NBA Finals the Miami Heat ran this play to get Wade an iso post lifted off the block. It seemed the defense knew this was coming but was still unable to stop the post feed as Wade had a smaller defender on him at the time. See More
