Basketball Play - Boise State-False Motion

Boise State-False Motion

Kyle Brown 03/13/2013

A great way to run some time off the clock and limit possesions is to run "false motion" boise state runs some of the best that I have seen. They were able to almost beat UNLV at UNLV while running this down the stretch into 1 of their sets. The most important teaching points for this is to cut to score, short easy passes, and stay high and wide. See More

Basketball Play - Baseline Cutter Special

Baseline Cutter Special

Randy Brown 03/13/2013

In this special, staggered screens free cutters along the baseline. 4 cuts baseline first as a decoy. He catches on left wing from 1. 2 and 5 continue their staggered screen action for 3. 3 can cut, catch and score or cut and post on the left block. Final option is for 5 to use 2's screen to curl for quick shot in the paint. Give it a try! See More

Flare Power Need 3

Kyle Gilreath 03/04/2013

Last night after a fierce comeback against the Indian Pacers late in the 4th quarter, the Chicago Bulls' Tom Thibodeau drew up with Sideline Out of Bounds action to get a much needed 3 pointer to tie the game. Unfortunately for the Windy City team, the shot came up short. See More

Basketball Play - Flood Action for 2 Man

Flood Action for 2 Man

Randy Brown 03/03/2013

Flood is a quick hitter that can produce a jump shot or quick post feed. Flood means that three players will get to one side of the floor; right side, in a quick manner. This will put 2 alone on left side so he can take advantage of 5's hard down screen. Timing and floor positioning are important. This play will yield a quick basket most of the time. Give it a try. Basketball Play - Vegas Door

Vegas Door

Randy Brown 02/28/2013

If you are in need of a set play for a timely three then check out Vegas Door. Because most action and cuts off screens are horizontal, this play features a vertical cut up the floor. 4 and 5 are responsible for "closing the door" on the defender to create time for an open three pointer. See More

Basketball Play - Brooklyn ditches ISO-Joe on a game-deciding play

Brooklyn ditches ISO-Joe on a game-deciding play

Mark Travis 02/22/2013

The majority of Joe Johnson's clutch shots for the Nets this season have come on the infamous ISO-Joe plays that made Johnson's Atlanta Hawks' teams a bit of an eye sore on offense. To Johnson's credit, he's been remarkably efficient in one-on-one situations late in games this year, and he even hit the game-winner later in this game on an isolation possession. But down three with 6.7 seconds left in the game against the Milwaukee Bucks the other night, P.J. Carlesimo went away from ISO ball and drew up a beautiful elevator screen sequence to get Johnson a wide open look at a three from the top of the key. Unphased by the moment, Johnson executed his cut perfectly and he got good screens from his teammates, allowing him to tie things up and send the game to overtime. Video of this play. See More

Basketball Play - Side Quick

Side Quick

Kyle Gilreath 02/18/2013

The Milwaukee Bucks ran this play in the first half of the NBA season to get Brandon Jennings a three pointer. This play is just not a Need 3 action. You can also run it if you have a great post player you want to get a score on the block as well. See More
