Favorite Send to FastDrawLoyola Chicago ran this set to start the second half against Indiana State on February 15, 2022. This is a great set to utilize a post with great passing ability as well as ability to score on the block. Loyola used Julia Hoefling in that spot. This resulted in a wide open jumper for Bre Hampton-Bey on the right wing. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of the horns alignment. The point guard uses the ball screen, and then the screener is put right into a flare screen. This can be very challenging to defend without proper communication if the ball handler can read the play correctly. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play for a tight, big to big flare screen. This action is really clever in my opinion. It can be masked pretty well out of the horns alignment, gets the defense moving, and provides an easy clear out for a mobile big man. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn today’s diagram and embedded video we look at a set play to use against zone defense. A lot of coaches use the horns alignment to ball screen against man to man, but I've found it to be useful as a zone concept as well. All you need is one little crease for the ball handler to squeeze through and you're in to the second level of the defense. Favorite Send to FastDrawHere we have your basic Horns Flare situation to take advantage of a 4 who can create. There is plenty of opportunity to mix in other actions on the catch from 4 if there is no immediate advantage: DHO with 2, backdoor for 2 or even a Hammer action for 1 with a screen by 2 or 3.
