Basketball Play - Princeton Point Series Set Plays

Princeton Point Series Set Plays

Matt Hackenberg 03/09/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play series from the Princeton Point Series. We aren't using a traditional Princeton alignment, but the elbow catch with the "over" and "away" cuts clearly establish this actions as Princeton Point actions. Running plays in a series helps disguise them so the defense doesn't know what is coming. Basketball Play - Princeton Mix Flare

Princeton Mix Flare

Matt Hackenberg 02/25/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of a Princeton alignment. The mix entry gets some movement going and sets up the flare pretty easily. This set is an easy way to work arond the edges of the defense looking for an easy opportunity without much risk. Basketball Play - Princeton: DHO Back Flare

Princeton: DHO Back Flare

Matt Hackenberg 02/25/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play for a flare screen. I like that this action clearly has an easy order of operations. After the hand off, read the back screen. If the back screen isn't there, check the flare screen. If the flare screen isn't there reverse the ball off the down screen. Basketball Play - 5 Out DHO Flare

5 Out DHO Flare

Matt Hackenberg 02/14/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of a 5 Out alignment for a flare screen three. This becomes a pretty natural option in a secondary break setting. Simply initiating a DHO can be a trigger to execute the action without any play call. I like the action because it stretches the defense side to side.
