Basketball Play - 30 Series: Keep Option

30 Series: Keep Option

Irvin Jerry 06/26/2019

The Keep Option is the 2nd option our 30 Series. If 1 sprints hard off 2's shoulder it will force 2x to help or a switch and free up 2 attacking off 5's ball screen. This opens up a lot of options for 2 as she attacks. See video below. More 30 Series: Chase Option Dribble Option Down Option See More

Basketball Play - Icing Wing Ball Screens (ICE)

Icing Wing Ball Screens (ICE)

Irvin Jerry 09/06/2019

Wing ball screens can be difficult to guard especially verse teams that run them frequently in their sets or run pick & roll motion. We went to icing wing ball screens to limit their effectiveness. Benefits of this defensive strategy: 1) You keep the ball on the wing, shrink the court and make the ball handler play in a crowd. 2) There are not many guards that excel at the off the dribble mid-range pull up. 3) With the rise in analytics more and more coaches discourage the mid range pull up. 4) The forward/center is limited to mid-range jumpers and threes. 5) Although the three-ball is shot at an increasing clip, there are not many centers that we face that will shoot a high percentage from three. We are ok with the other team's center taking contested threes and mid-range jumpers. In fact most of the centers we face don't shoot them at all or are reluctant. 6) Limiting the shot options to contested threes and mid-range jumpers by the ball handler and forward, the other players that are accustomed to getting kick out threes aren't in rhythm when they finally get touches. 7) Not many teams know how to counter icing wing ball screens. So some coaches will just stop running plays that have wing on ball screens because you can blow up an entire play and stagnate their offense by not letting the wing ball screen happen. See video below for examples. See More

Basketball Play - NC State Wolfpack WBB - Early Offense

NC State Wolfpack WBB - Early Offense

Aaron Schuck 02/10/2021

Top 5-ranked NC State women's basketball is turning into a top 15 team each season under head coach Wes Moore. In this early offense ball screen, the guard drag dribbles off it forcing a numbers advantage for the offense. The defense has also been stretched and has to cover a lot of space to get back in the play. *New customers use code SAVE10 for 10% OFF Draw/Scout* See More

Iowa Hawkeyes WBB - Post Seal ISO

Aaron Schuck 02/12/2021

Last season Iowa had a top overall offense in the half court from an anlytics standpoint. A big reason why was they were 2nd in the nation in post play 1.161 PPP. Their posts have great footwork which gets them angles to score. They also make sure to get them touches with sets like this. *New customers use code SAVE10 for 10% OFF Draw/Scout* See More

Vancouver Island WBB - Early Offense

There is a lot to like about the Vancouver Island women's team. After studying some of their games during the 2019-2020 season I saw they can play in a variety of ways. They space the floor and drive double and triple creates. The early action to create those gaps and the discipline to maintain spacing makes them hard to guard. Here is a look at some action they use in their early offense. In this particular video they are under 10 seconds for the quarter so it is also useful to get quick looks in short seconds. *New customers use code SAVE10 for 10% OFF Draw/Scout* See More

South Dakota St WBB - Backscreen STS

South Dakota women's team is my favorite team to study right now in all of basketball. They run great stuff and they know how to play the game. Their ability to change speeds in the half court is what makes all their different actions in sets they run so hard to guard. Every cut and screen creates space to attack the rim. Here is one of their sets that has multiple actions. Check out the latest offers on FastDraw below the diagram! See More
