Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Chicago Bulls summer league team used multiple actions to set up the elevator screen. Though only 2's defender had to defend the elevator screen, 4 & 5's defenders had to guard additional screening action right before the elevator screen (a stagger dribble handoff for 3). The multiple screening action makes it more difficult for them to provide help on the elevator screen. Blog Post: Offensive Actions Breakdown - Elevator Screens See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Boston Celtics opened the 2017-18 season with this play designed to get Kyrie Irving (1) a shot off the screen to screener action. After the dribble handoff, 1 cut to the lane to set up the back screen as the ball was swung to the weak side. x3 provided help on the back screen for 4, forcing x1 to guard the second screen by himself. 1 was able to curl around the screen and the get the open shot. Favorite Send to FastDrawThe LA Sparks opened Game 2 of the WNBA Finals with this play to get Chelsea Gray (1) a shot off of a dribble handoff by utilizing the playmaking skills of Candace Parker (5) at the top of the key. 1 & 2 cut off of 5 then 5 receives the pass up top. The Sparks are then in a floppy action with 1 & 3 screening for 2 and 4 setting a screen for 1. 5 finishes off the play with a dribble handoff with 1 to get her a shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Boston Celtics ran this play to get a wide open layup to start the second quarter of their summer league game against the Utah Jazz. The dribble handoff and ball reversal set up the Celtics to getting the ball inside to 4. x3 relaxed on the post feed allowing 5 to set a back screen on him and getting 3 open at the basket. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawMinnesota ran this SLOB with multiple options in the early part of the second quarter in their game against the Mystics on 6/23/17. Here, Alexis Jones got to the rim off the eventual ball screen, but the flare screen option was also wide open for a Maya Moore three. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawThe LA Clippers ran this lob play early in game 5 against the Utah Jazz. As 1 gets the dribble handoff from 5, 4 runs off of a double screen as a decoy clearing the defense to set up the lob. 2 sets a back screen for 5 putting the defense in a position where x2 has to help guard 5. 1 makes a lob pass to 5 at the rim. Favorite Send to FastDrawBrad Stevens ran this ATO set in the first half of Game 1, against the Chicago Bulls. It resulted in back-to-back baskets for the Celtics. The first basket was a lob. On the second basket, the Celtics ran the set all the way through. The key to the set is that the Celtics used their best shooter to set the back screen, which eliminated the Bulls' ability to help. More coaches should use their best shooters as a screener, when their team is in need of an easy basket. Great design by Coach Stevens! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Boston Celtics ran this ATO in their playoff opener against the Chicago Bulls to get an easy basket at the rim. The dribble handoff and ball reversal actions are used to clear a side of the floor for the lob and get the defense to focus on stopping 1. In order to take the lob away x1 needs to drop and protect the rim, but he would run the risk of 1 getting open for a shot. The Celtics run a similiar action to this play where 1 is the primary option and will get the ball back on a handoff from 4. In this play x1 is focused on stopping 1 and doesn't provide help on the back screen. This gets 3 a wide open look on the lob. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHorns action from the Utah Jazz. 3 (Gordon Hayward) sets an elbow ball-screen for 1 then rolls to the front of the basket. 5 & 3 then execute a dribble handoff. The purpose of this action is to allow Gordon Hayward to get a step ahead of his defender when he explodes into the DHO as his defender is trailing behind. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawIn a game against the San Antonio Spurs, the Cleveland Cavaliers ran this box set. It resulted in a layup for Kyrie Irving. It was one of the few things that went well for the Cavs on this night, as the Spurs cruised to an easy victory. This set allows Kyrie to get down hill, but what makes the set so effective is the positioning of the Cavs personnel. Don't be surprised to see this, in a key moment, in this year's NBA playoffs.
