Zone Entry - Pinch & Pinch Opposite
01/11/2022We use "PINCH" as an entry against any zone look. (2-3/ 1-2-2 /3-2). The play is the run the same way, on either side. Forwards will screen in hard on the top players in the zone defense. As this happens, both shooters come out of the corner and the PG chooses a side. With the top defender in the zone screened in, the pass to the wing should force the bottom forward to come out to play the pass or the guard will have an open look at the basket. In REGULAR PINCH, as soon as the ball hits a wing, the strong side forward will dive to the basket down the laneline. The weakside forward will flash behind to the elbow. In PINCH OPPOSITE, as soon as the ball hits a wing, the opposite forward will dive to the strongside short corner , the strong side forward will stay in the middle. See More

Flare Gate Slip SLOB
12/17/2021In this diagram and video clip we see a SLOB to look to steal a basket with a slip set. Having the most lethal scoring option coming off the gate screen increases the chances the defense will overreact to it. I don't think it matters which of the two screeners slip, as long as both don't slip. They want to be watching their defenders, and if either one gets above the level of the screen, slip into the open space. I've never actually used the 4 Out version, but I thought it was interesting seeing it on film. 1-2-2 Flex Offense Entry
12/07/2021In this diagram and embedded video we are looking at an entry into the flex offense. This is a methodical continuity set, aimed at getting the defense to slip up on defending screens off the ball. I like all the cutting, screening and movement. I think it limits penetration opportunities to a certain extent, and makes your players a bit robotic running the pattern. But time has proven, the flex offense can be very effective, especially at the high school level. Crack Down Lob BLOB vs Zone
12/02/2021It's baffling to me how often we would score on this simple play. We used it more as a BLOB special, about once every game or so. The less often you run it, the more effective it will be. The counter action, as seen in the diagram and in the embedded video, can also create some decent looks for your team, but that action requires more work once the ball is entered than the initial action. 2-Up Press Breaker
11/30/2021This is honestly the only press breaker I've ever used as a coach. It's so versatile, working well against whatever style of pressure if presented. We don't have to have different concepts installed for man and zone presses, or softer presses and harder presses . The press breaker is built on proper spacing, allows for safe reversals, but also has options to attack up the court against any style of press defense. We absolutely roasted diamond presses using the sideline entry of this press breaker. I like having 2-up, as we had help to get the ball inbounded if needed but it wasn't as congested as bringing 4-up or 3-up agianst presses.
