Basketball Play - 4 Out Carolina Flex

4 Out Carolina Flex

Matt Hackenberg 03/02/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a long form action used as a 4 Out set. The Carolina back screen and the flex are both hard actions to defend, so cramming them into one play will put a lot of stress on the defense. If you're looking to get the defense moving with player movement and screening, this is a great set for you. Check out this Carolina Flex BLOB set as well. Basketball Play - 1-4 High: Elbow Curl Stagger

1-4 High: Elbow Curl Stagger

Matt Hackenberg 01/24/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of a 1-4 high alignment. After the elbow entry, 1 sets the little on big screen for 5 to hard curl. This looks to be a good option as well. If the curl draws too much attention, the shooter is a good option coming off the stagger. Basketball Play - Box STS Stagger

Box STS Stagger

Matt Hackenberg 01/24/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of a box alignment. I like how quickly the action unfolds. The court does seem a little smushed with the spacing on this set, so it might be wise to develop a plan to organize if the shot is not there because there isn't much space to create. Basketball Play - Flat Reverse X Seal BLOB

Flat Reverse X Seal BLOB

Matt Hackenberg 01/17/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a BLOB play. Commonly with this action the cross screen is set from the ball side post, but in this action it is reversed. Both options should be examined. Visit my Sellfy store for detailed coaching materials written by me - https://sellfy.com/coachhack.go/ Follow me on Twitter - @CoachHackGO See More

Basketball Play - Zone Entry - Pinch & Pinch Opposite

Zone Entry - Pinch & Pinch Opposite

Brian Shea 01/11/2022

We use "PINCH" as an entry against any zone look. (2-3/ 1-2-2 /3-2). The play is the run the same way, on either side. Forwards will screen in hard on the top players in the zone defense. As this happens, both shooters come out of the corner and the PG chooses a side. With the top defender in the zone screened in, the pass to the wing should force the bottom forward to come out to play the pass or the guard will have an open look at the basket. In REGULAR PINCH, as soon as the ball hits a wing, the strong side forward will dive to the basket down the laneline. The weakside forward will flash behind to the elbow. In PINCH OPPOSITE, as soon as the ball hits a wing, the opposite forward will dive to the strongside short corner , the strong side forward will stay in the middle. See More

Matt Hackenberg 01/08/2022

BLOG & PLAYBOOK - Chino Hills Huskies: The Scheme Behind the Ball Brothers In this embedded video and diagram we look at the BLOB system of the 35-0, state championship Chino Hills team of 2015-16. If you're looking for tricky sets, this isn't it. Chino Hills kept it very simple, but got a lot of mileage out of these simple concepts. Basketball Play - Cross Back Lob BLOB

Cross Back Lob BLOB

Matt Hackenberg 12/31/2021

In this diagram and video clip we see a clever BLOB action. The double baseline screen sets up a back screen to try to catch the easy lob pass around the rim. Browse more coaching content available on the Sellfy store: https://sellfy.com/coachhack.go/ Follow me on Twitter - @CoachHackGO See More

Basketball Play - Zone Set: Double Screen Out Lob

Zone Set: Double Screen Out Lob

Matt Hackenberg 12/25/2021

In this diagram and video clip we see a set to attack a zone. This works specifically against a 2-3 zone, screening out the top defenders to create a pocket for the point guard to drive into. Once face to face with x5, 1 can either shoot the floater or throw the lob to 5. Basketball Play - Horns: Push Slice STS

Horns: Push Slice STS

Matt Hackenberg 12/25/2021

In this diagram and video clip we see a set out of a horns alignment. The set wants the defense to help on the screen in the paint, so that they are late getting through the screen-the-screener action. Against switching defenses, 5 wants to screen their own defender to free up the shooter. Video below. Basketball Play - Flare Gate Slip SLOB

Flare Gate Slip SLOB

Matt Hackenberg 12/17/2021

In this diagram and video clip we see a SLOB to look to steal a basket with a slip set. Having the most lethal scoring option coming off the gate screen increases the chances the defense will overreact to it. I don't think it matters which of the two screeners slip, as long as both don't slip. They want to be watching their defenders, and if either one gets above the level of the screen, slip into the open space. Basketball Play - 4 Out, 1 In Circle Motion

4 Out, 1 In Circle Motion

Matt Hackenberg 12/14/2021

In this diagram and embedded video we look closely at a variation of the 5 Out Circle Motion. This variation has a 4 Out, 1 In alignment. I've never actually used the 4 Out version, but I thought it was interesting seeing it on film. I've used the 5-Out version for a number of years, and it's been one of the more fun offenses to develop. Video clip below.
