Basketball Play - Toronto Raptors - EOG SLOB Stagger Pop

Toronto Raptors - EOG SLOB Stagger Pop

Matt Wheeler 11/21/2016

The Toronto Raptors ran this SLOB play down 3 with 2.4 seconds left in their game against the Sacramento Kings. The play was designed with options for their two best 3 point shooters to get a look at tying the game. 2 uses the cross screen from 5 to set up a stagger screen for 1 for the first option. 5 then sets a second screen for 2 to get him a shot up top for the second option. Basketball Play - Brazil - EOG SLOB 3 Box Double

Brazil - EOG SLOB 3 Box Double

Matt Wheeler 08/08/2016

Brazil was down 7 with 17.2 seconds left against Lithuania, trying to finish off a comeback that had them down by 25 in the second half. They used the familiar box setup for this SLOB play. Often times in this situation 2 will set a cross screen for 3. In this play 2's starting position was facing 3 as if he was going to screen for him. Once 1 was given the ball, 2 instead cut off of the double screen by 4 & 5. When he didn't get the ball, 2 continued to the corner. 3 then ran off of the second double screen. 3's defender was unable to get through the screen which forced a switch and eventually a foul on the 3 point shot. Basketball Play - Chicago Bulls - EOG Post Kickout 3

Chicago Bulls - EOG Post Kickout 3

Matt Wheeler 07/20/2016

Down 3 with 3.6 seconds left in the NBA Summer League championship game, the Chicago Bulls ran this sideline out of bounds play to get Denzel Valentine a clean look at a 3. This play uses the skip pass action that Brad Stevens has used at both Butler and the Boston Celtics in end game situations. The Bulls ran their own variation of the play that started with a decoy cross screen for Valentine instead of the zipper screen that Stevens uses. This action caused the defense to relax, thinking Valentine was covered after defending the initial cross screen successfully. The rescreen for Valentine then freed him up for the game tying shot. Basketball Play - Indiana Hoosiers - Zipper Pin Cross

Indiana Hoosiers - Zipper Pin Cross

Lucas Shapiro 02/02/2016

This is a set for an easy post look. The key part that is hard to defend is the curl action into a cross screen. Minnesota actually did a good job of defending it on this possession. However, teams that like to switch would have a hard time guarding this action because it would force the guard to have to match up with the post player. See More

Basketball Play - Wolves Motion Weak Quick

Wolves Motion Weak Quick

Adam Spinella 01/21/2016

The Minnesota Timberwolves ran Motion Weak and Kevin Martin, a strong outside shooter, never set the first cross screen. When the cross screen is not set and the offensive player darts up the down screen, his man will lag behind as he prepares to help on the cross screen. Without any contact with an opposing defender, Martin is free to get a step on his man before the action occurs. This wrinkle is great for a shooter if a team spends a lot of time running cross screens See More

Basketball Play - Stanford Diamond Special

Stanford Diamond Special

Randy Sherman 06/18/2015

In this diamond set, the cutter can choose which pin screen they want to use. The player at the top of the diamond exits opposite the cutter. Screening post then sets a cross screen for the other post. That player goes into an underneath ball screen with a wing spotted up in the opposite corner.
