Post Breakdown Drills to teach pin screening then sealing and back screeing out of the post.
These drills are done during guard/post breakdowns
Coach serves as passer at top of circle
Line of players under basket with balls
Player 2 passes to coach then simulates the role of the cutter
Player 1 sets pin screen along the lane line. The screener is parallel with the lane line with their back pointing towards near sideline.
Player 2 cuts off pin screen to the wing. Coach passes to Player 2
After screening, Player 1 creates a post up with a high seal.
Player 2 feeds the post on the baseline side.
Player 1 scores
ROTATION: After making the post entry, Player 2 goes to lane line to be the next screener. Player 1 gets ball out of net and gets in the line under the basket. Keep group small, get lots of reps!
Advancements: Make this a 2v1 drill with the screener guarded. Run drill on both sides of the court.
Player 1 begins in the post in a post up position
Player 2 has a ball and passes to coach
"The best time to backscreen for a cutter is when they just passed the ball."
Player 1 steps off the post and backscreens for Player 2
Player 2 simulates the role of the cutter and uses back screen
After back screening, Player 1 separates from the screen
Coach passes to Player 1
Drill these options:
- Catch & Shoot
- Sweep Fake Baseline & Drive Middle
ROTATION: Player 2 rebounds for Player 1, passes ball back to them. Player 1 gets in line. Player 2 becomes next screener.
