In this diagram and embedded video we look at a one-on-one drill to teach reading the defense on the catch. I love using different one-on-one games to teach different aspects of play. Being able to modify the defense's starting locations changes the reads for the offensive players.

This drill simulates attacking off of a lift. We position the defense as loose, tight or overplay and then play 1 on 1 from the catch. This ingrains the habit of lifting hard and gets players to understand the shooting/driving reads on the catch
