About This Play/Drill

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a post play drill. This drill really works on sealing for position inside before catching the ball, and then provides some repetitions finishing inside against live defense. The drill can become a nice conditioning drill if a player is to get stuck in the pit for a while.

Organization: Two players start in "the pit" and three passers at the two wings and top of the key. The offense starts with the ball and play becomes live when the offense passes the ball out any of the three perimeter passers. Players rotate clockwise from the passing lines into the pit.

Description: Offense and defense play live until one player scores. A stop earns an offensive possession. The offense cuts, seals to receive a pass and attempts to score. Ball can be moved around the perimeter and posts reposition. One dribble limit in the pit. One shot and out.
