The Lakers opened the second half of their Christmas day game against the Clippers with this play designed to get Lebron James (1) the ball off a pindown screen. 1 started the play by passing to 3 on the wing and making a UCLA cut to the basket. 3 immediately passed to 5 off of the ball screen, who reversed the ball to 2 on a dribble handoff. 1 then cuts off the screen from 4 to get the pass from 2. In this situation the initial actions were defended well and the Lakers went into a second ball screen and a high post flash in order to get a shot off.
- 1 passes to 3 then cuts to the weakside block off the screen from 4.
- 3 takes a dribble off the ball screen from 4 and immediately passes to 5.
- 5 dribble handoffs with 2.
- 3 cuts to the opposite corner.
- 1 cuts to the wing off the screen from 4.
- 2 passes to 1 for the shot.
