  • Basketball Play - Baseline Drive & Drift: 1v1 Closeout

Drill Description

- Player 1 will play off the dribble or the catch and attack downhill towards the baseline.

- Once player 1 drives past the lane line, the coach (C) will call out commands.

 

Commands

- If the coach calls out an EVEN NUMBER, player 1 is making a drift pass (blue) to the corner (Player 2 in blue).

- If the coach calls out an ODD NUMBER, player 1 is making a drift pass (red) to the wing (Player 3 in red).

 

Where ever the ball is delivered by player 1, that player (2 or 3) should be shot ready as they will catch & shoot when they receive the pass.

 

1v1 Closeout Drill Description (Frame 2)

 

- Once player 1 delivers the drift pass (make pass with one hand), player 1 will become a defender and have to closeout at the player not receiving the pass.

- In this frame, player 1 delivers the drift pass to player 2 (blue) in the corner and will closeout (red) to player 3 on the wing.

- As player 1 closes out, the coach (C) will make a pass (green) to player 3.

- It will become live 1v1 with a maximum of 3 dribbles.

 

Frame 3

 

- In this frame, if player 1 delivers the drift pass to player 3 (red), player 1 will closeout at player 2 in the corner (blue).

- As player 1 closes out to player 2, the coach (C) will make a pass (green) to player 2.

- It will become live 1v1 with a maximum of 3 dribbles.
