Basketball Play - Post Split Shooting

Post Split Shooting

Zachary Weir 07/03/2018

We use this shooting drill to work on our split cut actions when there is a post feed. We use coaches as extra passers in order to get more reps. We also always have a defender on the post player and will also progress to having the drill be 3v3. The defender will be instructed by a coach on how to guard the post. As the season progresses, we will let the defender choose and the offensive player will read the defense. Click here for more #PlayerDevelopmentWeek content! See More

Basketball Play - Full Court Dribble Series

Full Court Dribble Series

Zachary Weir 07/09/2018

This is a great drill for getting a ton of ball handling reps. This works stationary ball handling, handle on the move, first step off the dribble, and change of pace. It is also a great conditioner and footwork drill and can be varied in many different ways based upon the creativity of the coach. Click for more #PlayerDevelopment content! See More

Basketball Play - SGP Shooting Series

SGP Shooting Series

Zachary Weir 07/24/2018

SGP Shooting Series is a drill that we run daily. It is a great drill for building not only shooting, passing, and dribbling skills - but also chemistry between players. This drill is used as a drill to work on reads versus defense and passing accuracy as well. We really stress pace of play in our offense and this drill is great for getting the players to feel the speed and pace they need to work at. Rules for the drill: Our goal is 10 shots per 1 min. With our better shooters we will go 12 per 1 min. We will go 12 minutes ideally, but on days that we fit this series into our individual drills we will go at the very least 8 minutes. You must thank the passer when you make a shot. You must call out the action that you are performing - i.e, curl, fade, etc. Alternate in air passes and bounce passes. Progression Coach as a defender Add secondary defender to read if players are ready Can also have the ball handler make a move off the dribble instead of triple threat See More

Basketball Play - SSG: PNR React Drill

SSG: PNR React Drill

Zachary Weir 10/08/2018

A great drill that combines ball screen reads with a SSG. The offense is put into different ball screen situations all over the court and given an advantage. The goal of the offense is to use the ball screen, find the advantage quickly and score. The fiirst progression is that the offense will get one ball screen and one oppurtunity to score. Progressions: 1. Add the missing defender after a set amount of time. (7 seconds) and play it live. 2. Change PnR coverage to work on all situations. (Soft hedge, Blitz, Switch, Hard Hedge, etc..) Basketball Play - Transition Shooting Series

Transition Shooting Series

Zachary Weir 10/30/2018

Transition shooting series is a full court shooting drill. The drill works on rhythm full speed shooting in transition, passing in transition, and conditioning players to communicate in a chaotic transition situation. This is a great conditioner and competition drill as well, as players on the two sides compete against each other for a total amount of makes. Shoot, get your own rebound (before it bounces or only one bounce), make a good pass to next shooter sprint to opposite end. Passer must call next shooter's name, next shooter must call for ball when s/he wants the ball. Have players shoot on both sides of the floor and set a goal/pace for your team. See More
