Matt Wheeler 11/01/2017

NC Cenral ran this elevator play late in the second half of their opening round game in the NCAA Tournament against UC Davis to get an open look at a 3 point shot. 5 circles under 4 to set up the elevator screen as 3 sets a cross screen for 2. 2 then uses the screen from 3 and cuts through the elevator screen from 4 & 5. 1 passes to 2 for the open shot. Basketball Play - SLOB Plays: Flare Punch STS

SLOB Plays: Flare Punch STS

Doug Brotherton 06/11/2017

A lot of NBA teams use the "Zipper Cut" to get the ball inbounded. It is a simple pin down, which allows the guard to sprint to the ball. This is a misdirection counter. The post slips the pin down, to receive the inbounds pass. A flare screen allows for a skip pass, which leads into a screen-the-screener action. This set allows a team to use their best shooter to cross screen for the post, before sprinting through an elevator screen. See More

Basketball Play - San Antonio Spurs - SLOB Elevator Slip

San Antonio Spurs - SLOB Elevator Slip

Matt Wheeler 05/10/2017

The Spurs used a common play with the elevator screen as a decoy adding a back screen to it. Kawhi Leonard (4) did a good job of keeping x4 on his top side as he set the elevator screen with 5. This allowed 5 to set a quick back screen and get 4 a wide open layup. See More

Do they all start from different formations? Is it difficult to flow from the base offense, into the sets? Do they all use the same action? Do the sets lack versatility? These are all challenges, which coaches must consider, and do not realize until they face the best teams on their schedule. The "Elbow Series" below is an example of some sets that check all of the necessary boxes, which make them a solid addition to your playbook. Read More: http://bit.ly/2pbH6L1 See More
